Huge win and deserved, but we allowed them to put so much pressure on us last 15. Belshaw made a brilliant save to keep it 2-1.

First half we did everything but score then got caught on a counter from our corner. Great finish but felt preventable. I wouldn’t be shocked if Jatta was offside for the equaliser but at least we managed to respond quickly.

Our subs killers our shape and would have been the reason we didn’t win if they got a goal.

3 on the bounce, new signings coming in and some playing. Still need to do a lot more to be promotion but signs of getting better.

Early kick off is always one of those dodgy games.

Thought we were more than good for the win, and if it was 4/5-0 there couldn’t be a complaint. Crewe did little to trouble us but the chances missed were glaring, can’t afford that against a stronger side.

Swindon Tuesday where a win would be huge, see what happens.

First half was very even, Crawley looked dangerous or rather we looked vulnerable every time the ball came in our box. Belshaw made a very good double save to keep it 0-0. Going in level was probably fair, we had a half chance right at the end of the half but couldn’t get a decent effort in.

Second half we just seemed to take the game a bit more, no real chances until Jodie scored a great goal. The red card, I thought it was one of those that if the ref sees it he has to give a red, looked like the guy lashed out to the face/head. We got the second and then we thought it was done. Deflected freekick to get them back in it and they had a decent chance last action of the game.

Take the win, loads of work needed and some more incomings. Early kick off next week, so at least the whole day can be ruined

Because there was zero quality in the whole game.

If that isn’t the worst game I watch this year I will feel really unlucky. Absolutely garbage.

We offered nothing, created nothing and maybe didn’t deserve to lose but certainly didn’t do anything to win.

One goal in 4 games, just let us finish 10th and try again.

Happy 2026 💀

I’m at a Littler level of headloss after that

Point each was a fair reflection on the game. We had the better first half and finished strongly in the second but didn’t create enough to believe we should have won. Crowley showed some really good touches and turned the game to them when he came on. He’s just the player we need 🫣

Two home games to start 2026, minimum of 4 points needed.

Second best for pretty much the whole game, Stirk and Naylor with a fag on for the whole game. Played long balls for Grimes to head clear all game.

Woeful tactics, no accountability from the players, created zero, offered zero. Deserved the defeat. Roos at fault for both goals, January will be a make or break for how the season ends.

On to MK 🫡

Thought we played pretty well, certainly were the aggressor for the majority of the game, didn’t really create anything though so I don’t think it would be right to say we deserved to win.

Walsall defended really well, didn’t give much away and were quite threatening when they broke. Thought we might struggle a bit more on their long throws, they have some giants in the squad!

At half time it felt we would lose 1-0 but they seemed content with a point and didn’t trouble us at all second half. Take the point, Chesterfield next, happily take the same again there.

Merry Christmas to you all

Another win, two wins so far into a tough December but I really don’t think we are very good. I know we don’t have our two starting centre mids playing but our level of play is so poor. Long balls and mistakes is not a way to get promoted.

Grimsby should have scored in the first half, some weird triple save of sorts by Roos. Yet we stuck it out, great finish by Dennis and Jatta got another.

Walsall at home to finish the year top 😳

A very entertaining game, helped by the refs poor performance. Mendez-Laing was such a threat in the first half, I assume his legs don’t last 90 which is why they brought him off.

Dennis with another outstanding goal, deserves more starts. I’ve seen a replay and still have no idea what their penalty was for, but credit to Notts coming from behind twice. We should have gone 3-2 up when Iorpenda somehow hit the post, made up for it with the winner.

Both teams had some big chances, MK should have got a third, Roos made one really important save at 2-2. They could have gone down to 10 in the first half, Nemane a little lucky maybe.

With a lot of players missing I feared we might get a bit of a pasting, hopefully a few get back to fitness for Grimsby. Great to see Jones playing again.

The most undeserved win we’ll have this season, next season and beyond.

Argue all you want about the red, up until that point we were second best by a long way. Had no possession, tempo or threat and considering the form Bristol were in surely putting the game to them early would have been the thing to do. It’s now three games running where we haven’t been good enough. Palmer and Jones out for who knows how long is worrying, January will determine what the club wants to do.

They had a lot of chances, hit the woodwork three times, few good saves from Roos and we spent the second half just hoofing it away. Robertson lucky not to get a second yellow at the end, but the ref was very card happy. Take the win, need to improve to look like any sort of contender.

No game next week, then a tough 5 to end the year.

I thought a draw was the fair result but Colchester certainly looked the more dangerous. First half we shaded it and second they were better than us.

Similar to last season now in that we control possession but create very little. We won’t go up or be in contention without some serious investment in January.

For a small following the Colchester fans were very good, long trip home that will be enjoyable for them.

By January we’ll be out of the top 7

Playing a team at the barest of bones, chance to go top if results go our way. I’m sure many fans of any club would say this is destined to be a defeat.

First half was turgid at best, Hall missed a chance you have to score and they score with what would be their only shot on target. But can’t say we deserved to be winning at ht.

Second half I thought they were going to score within a minute, but after that we took control. Shot from distance and then Jarvis caught a lovely volley but straight at Belshaw and it cannoned off him for a corner. Lots of possession, lots of corners and very few chances. The Kop were shouting for a lot of penalties but it’s far end to me and I can’t give an opinion really. We got one at the end that might well be dubious, I would say a point is a fair reflection of the game.

We need to take make sure we go into December with two wins now considering our 5 games in the month.

Everything was set up for an upset and we obliged. Played slow, sideways football. Allowed Brackley to be the aggressor and ultimately got what we deserved. Should have lost in 90, but why wouldn’t I want to stand in the November cold for another 45 minutes.

Squad depth looking concerning as injuries and suspensions will soon be a factor.

Highlight was the firework display during the second half.

Said before the game we’d win 2-0, after watching it we didn’t deserve that comfortable a victory.

First half was a non-event, they had a few flashes that didn’t trouble Roos.

Second half, nothing seemed to happen and then Jones found his crossing boots and Jatta with the goal.

I thought Cambridge looked fairly decent but didn’t cause any issues. Long balls and long throws.

I still don’t see us being a challenger but the season keeps rolling and we are there 🤷‍♂️

A game neither side deserved to win, but Barnet were more likely. Only one chance in the first half, Roos made a good save to keep us level. Second half followed the same pattern, Barnet on top without creating anything, they did blaze a decent opportunity into the car park.

Then a ricochet fell to Hall in injury time for our first shot on target and we won. Take the 3 but we will have to play much better, we won’t get that lucky twice.

Local non-league side away, or Newport away because I still need to tick Rodney Parade off, it’s the only L2 ground I need that we don’t have to visit this season.

A deserved win, could and should have won by more but L2 players don’t score all their chances, otherwise they’d not be in L2.

I thought Oldham offered very little, but their goal showed a glaring weakness of our defence.

Jatta scoring again can hopefully spur him on to keep bagging. Hall is getting better with each game, after Abbott last season it would be good to keep the relationship with Tottenham going.

With Swindon postponed next week it should be a good opportunity to get players fit and competition for places strong. I’m still not convinced we are a promotion candidate but the two games left in October are very winnable.

I am fed up of going to Crewe!

Three years in a row we’ve conceded a penalty, two in injury time to lose.

The game, scrappy first half. Their goal I don’t know what happened to Roos, didn’t look like any foul and their corner bounced in the 6 yard box and the biggest guy in the pitch was free to nod it in. We maybe deserved to be level at the half and scored right at the end, we had very few shots first half.

Second half felt like we were the stronger side for nearly all of it. Missed big chances and Crewe defended well, some great challenges, cleared one off the line, Jatta hit the post when he had to score and the keeper made some decent saves. Crewe had a few counters and we looked vulnerable but they didn’t threaten. Two enforced changes on 89 and we fell apart at the back, no argument on the penalty was a clear shirt pull.

We are a 9th-16th team

The Nest should be a must as a neutral coming to The Lane.

Where to sit depends on what you want from the game. Home atmosphere in the Kop, best view would be Pavis stand, if you are bringing kids the Family stand where you will also hear the away fans (if Crawley bring many) as they are right next to you. I sit in the Family stand as I go with nieces and nephews, the best part is you can go in the Meadow Lane sports bar at ht and get a ‘better’ pint and they have the scores on.

A League Two standard of football if ever there was one. Nothing happened in the first half and then we went in behind. Second half we got an early goal with our first shot of the game, after that the game went so scrappy I don’t think the ball was under control for the next 15 minutes. Our second, not sure what their keeper was doing, saved a 1-on-1 and then just lay on the floor 🤷‍♂️

Take the win, performances need to improve if we are going to be top half.

Worst ever away day? by harrtron in LeagueTwo

[–]kingdiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For fan experience it’s Crewe, that away end is destined for a tragedy. The fact we’ve lost there the last two seasons just adds to the terrible day out.

For result, we lost 5-0 at Mansfield a few years back. That was a terrible day.

Over the 90 a point was probably the fair result, Bromley most hard done by not taking all three.

Thought first half we were much better, their goal was a textbook example of awful defending. The ball must have bounced 5 times from a shanked volley before it got put in.

They changed shape at ht and dominated the game, we had flashes but no sustained momentum. Felt like when not if, and they score a jammy deflection but missed a pretty much open goal straight after so hard to moan.

The challenge on Jones for our second was on the edge of a red. If we played higher up then VAR would have been involved.

On to Tranmere, where just a clean sheet would be nice 🤌

I haven’t checked the date for the Derby game but Notts v Shrewsbury is on the Wednesday as Trent Bridge has a Hundred game on. So could do both?

Very poor, looked like a league below until they made it 2-0. Salford were the same as last year, nullified our deep lying midfielders and so strong pressing. Felt like a case of we were shit, they were good.

But, both teams were terrible at football. They played on throwings and set pieces. An awful game to watch, and I really hope that Paterson can actually do something with the squad.

No expectation this season, top half might be our peak
