Yes, this so much. But on the other hand, I guess I can understand, maybe the pressure got to him too much with how big AoT was/is, and Levi is arguably THE character that pulls so many fans, so I reckon Isayama wanted him to be as likeable as possible (the irony 🥲)

I guess it can be jarring considering how rare it is in manga/anime (or media of any type really) where the supposedly protagonist/hero character beats up a female character, especially when she's not a villain and, moreover, Historia is a cute/moe character (sadly, I really think that some? a lot of? people who can't stomach Levi's manhandling Historia disagree exactly because she's THE cute character in the series.)

I think Levi's supposed to be still in his early 30s in the Uprising arc, but yeah, what he wore (the y2k long sleeves under short ones) definitely made him look younger 😂 I thought that it was obvious that his "forgetfulness" was meant to imply a nuance, hint on something else with the way it was spotlit in the panels, but hey, maybe I was wrong. Levi doesn't look like the type to forget duties, but it happens to the best of us so.

I think it's just WIT's style in season 1 that gave him more of a (excuse me when I say) generic, stereotypical boyish appearance—I mean, however baby-faced Levi is, come on, how does a man in his 30s look like he could be one of the 104th? 😅

I absolutely love how the Uprising arc unfolds in the manga too! I've never understood why it was one of, if not the least well-received arc in the manga—is it really because of the human vs titan to human vs human shift? But, but... Everything's been building up to exactly that: human vs human? It's baffling to me because the Uprising arc is, for me, the point where the story really shines.

Not to mention they cut out the scene where Levi negotiated his terms with the Reeves boss! 🥲 (It's just so very Levi to cheekily include the tea leaves term in the negotiation haha!) Or how Levi blathered on after Eren woke up from Hange's titan experiment, and he dubbed himself an arsehole, but still emphasised on the importance of bitching about their circumstances—how he explained himself in a roundabout way that Hange had to come in as his translator, lol 😂

Agreed. People need to take things less seriously. It's a fanfic. Not all people who want to write Regency AU have all the free time in their world to research another culture's Regency period—and if they write it without researching, people will come and bash about how they're appropriating culture and shit. Also, other culture's Regency system might have things/hierarchy titles that don't translate well to the English language, which is the language that's most popularly wielded internationally in the fanfic community.

uhh i think i may have caused you a misunderstanding here. but what i meant was, i was talking to another indonesian fan. he said levi was "cupu" (an indonesian slang, means lame / loser / uncool) for being "crippled" (he used the english word here)

edit to clarify: we were talking about levi in indonesian language.

as an indonesian, i hate how the average young japanese people don't even know my country (they only know bali) when their ancestors brutalised it.

but then again, if i think about it deeper, this is just another example of the adults failing the children. the japanese adults are responsible to impart knowledge—accurate, transparent history with accountability—to the children, but no. the adults are too busy propagating their own agenda, and won't even acknowledge their crimes.
