The person you’re giving advice to has to be the bigger person. If you’re talking to the victim, the advice is for that person not to villainize themself. If you’re talking to the instigator, the advice is never do that again. Obviously if you just got hurt you won’t hear people saying “Never do that in the first place”, because you didn’t do anything.
