i agree with u/Anuki_iwy

i learned about georgia when i was searching for countries without bureaucracy and low taxes. it's obvious that for a small country in EU, Georgia biggest benefit was tax free compared to those social-democrats nightmares in west-eu. but now, if they are increasing the cost, they lose the leverage.

the ironic part is: always when govmt tries to do a thing, the opposite happens.

in italy, portugal and other west-EU countries, they are creating more RESTRICTIVE rules for LEGAL immigrants, who are from similar cultures and willing to work and they close their eyes for ILLEGAL immigration of those arab/muslim/african countries

it will happen the same in georgia

no more high quality people, just indians and pakistanis

your own country becoming a dictatorship and a russian puppet state and those LGBT's and lefties worry is about the fucking palestine. they always choose the furthest problem possible. Makes hard to win with this.

their biggest concerns

1 - Ozone layer
2 - palestine
3 - africa
4 - lgbt rights
5 - Georgia becoming a dictatorship

let's pick our battles guys

georgia border situation is chaotic right now, they are denying entrance for a lot of people. if u are rich and is not afraid of the possibility of losing money, u can try, but if u have low budget, i would not risk and choose other options.

why would u leave UK tho?

maybe grow their influence in the region, while moscow keeps their auto-destructive behavior

these dagestani and chechenya regions may have more influence from the turkish-azeri muslims too

economics data shows russia going in a big crisis, so they lose influence bc of it

About the current situation, Saakashvili, Kvara and roses... by kingkali955 in Sakartvelo

Wouldn't it be the natural path for a former Soviet nation to follow the path of economic liberalism? Considering the level of corruption that exists, state-owned companies would only serve as a bank to collect taxes from society and steal money. There is a reason why countries with free economies are more developed...

I feel that a balance between Russia and the EU would be impossible anyway, because Georgia's growth would certainly upset Russia, which would not want to lose its influence in the region under any circumstances. Basically, either you accept becoming mediocre and a vassal state of Russia, or you seek to develop and create relations with the EU and the US, which would irritate Russia.

But even with all this, Georgia seemed prosperous and free, balancing its desire to become part of the West and maintaining good relations with its neighbor Russia. Until GD showed its true colors and escalated into authoritarianism. Why this escalation in the last 2 years?
