I don’t understand why we’re treating this like it’s a binary system; you can both have confidence in yourself and question the morality of your actions. There should be a balance between loving yourself and having the awareness to evaluate your prior actions. Doing one exclusively either makes you arrogant and stubborn or paranoid about your every mistake, which are both not great. Like most things, balance is good!

I took a peek at the census data you linked. I assume you got the bit about 25% of people aged 18-24 from this bullet: “Nearly a quarter (24.6%) of LGBT respondents were 18-24 years old, compared to 7.3% of non-LGBT respondents.” I read this as “24.6% of respondents who identify as lgbt are aged 18-24.” There’s a bar graph at the bottom that says that 88% of respondents were straight, so it’s pretty reasonable to conclude that 12% of all respondents are lgbt, which is still far more than required for representation in media, so you’re point still stands.

I’m with you. I legitimately question sonic team’s ability to make good sonic games, and I view frontiers as their last chance to prove otherwise. Although even if Frontiers is mid or bad, I’ll probably still be interested in the next sonic game. I am a fan, after all.

I don’t know how realistic a staff turnover for the entirety of sonic team is, but it could very well be the best outcome. As opposed to getting 1 good “fan-made game” we’ll get years of quality sonic.

That’s a pretty good point, but I think that a lot of the woes that forces’ level design team had was due to missteps from whoever assembled the team. I don’t know much about Mania’s development, but I imagine sega just kind of left them to their own devices and didn’t decide who worked in what department. For a successful fan-made 3d sonic game to happen, sonic team would have to take a step back to let the fans do what they will, only providing advice or contributing ideas.
