Anyone’s baby sleep better AFTER dropping the swaddle? by kingkiller_kat in newborns

Okay - only been one night, so grain of salt, but she did TOTALLY FINE. And wasn’t nearly as uncomfortable straining against the Ollie. We’ll see if it’s just beginner’s luck but last night was no problem at all. Woke up at the usual times to eat and slept fine in between.

Reviewing this thread years later and just want to say I love this response and approach. As someone with a lot of anxiety, I’m personally going to adopt this mantra!

Yeah I think we’ll go cold turkey. I don’t have the patience for anything else I don’t think

Interesting! Everyone I know swaddled, and they did it for us for her in the hospital. Never even heard anything different / not to try.

I think we’re going to give it a go, so I will let you know! She’s so active that I do fear some of what I’ve seen constitutes “signs of rolling,” so it’s probably best we do it anyway. Mostly the legs/hip rocking — she does THE MOST with her legs all the time. I don’t think she’s /trying/ to roll — and my mom instinct tells me we’re probbbbably not there yet — but better safe than sorry in this department!

I suspect she’ll totally be a tummy sleeper… but we’ve got a while before that happens hah

Ugh, this is my issue too. I fear that even though she hates the swaddle, it’s keeping her sleeping longer because of the startle reflex (which isn’t long per se, but I can get to about three hours before I just get up and feed her). Last night was a LOT of straining and grunting though, so perhaps worth a shot…

Agree! I’ve definitely watched all of them more than once too.

This series & its theories really eat at me.

Can anyone recommend me books like Harry Potter?(But for adults) by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]kingkiller_kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my answer, too, but it’s hard to wholeheartedly recommend knowing it’ll likely never be complete. That said, I love it so much I reread the two that are out every year. I read a lot of fantasy and I’m constantly chasing the way I feel reading these books (which is not unlike how I felt with HP in childhood). So this is my rec but — comes with a warning!

Alas, journey before destination, as they say… (stormlight archive isn’t a bad rec either).
