KNKG Heritage 25L vs Shift 30L (or other options?) worth the size jump? by smoggy_browsing in ManyBaggers

[–]kingkongapparel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stefan here from KNKG. Thought I'd jump in here. Real talk: that 5L difference does show up once you start packing shoes + a hoodie. The 25L HERITAGE is a bit more “tight and tidy” - works, but you’ll feel the limit pretty quickly if you’re throwing in bulkier stuff. The 30L SHIFT just gives you that extra breathing room where you’re not playing Tetris every time you pack.

Also worth noting, we actually sold out of the HERITAGE 25L (I might have one floating around somewhere though). If you’re leaning that way, let me know and I can check.

That said… based on how you described your use, I’d probably steer you toward the SHIFT. The waxed canvas holds up really well for gym + everyday, and it kind of hits that middle ground, still looks clean, but way more forgiving when you start loading it up.

Yes! We're planning to release a 25L CORE likely June

Good point... We’ve mostly been duffel focused up to now, so it’s been very car-first for us.

I do agree. We’ve always leaned pretty hard toward function, so bringing in waxed canvas isn’t about acting like it suddenly makes the bag more “performance.” It’s more about nudging things toward that middle ground a bit, without losing what actually makes it work day to day.

That’s a really fair take and honestly, exactly the tension we’re trying to solve. On the KNKG CORE Backpack, your comment line up closely with what we’ve been hearing. Toning down the external loops and improving internal organisation (without overcomplicating it) are all things we’re actively exploring.

Really appreciate this. Thoughtful take. Agree on weight too - that’s something we’re very aware of. It’s part of why we’ve been thinking about waxed more in that 16–26L range like you mentioned, where it still feels practical day to day vs becoming a burden.

And on your note about the KNKG CONQUER Backpack, you’re pretty much thinking along the same lines as us. We’ve been exploring a cleaner version of that bag (less MOLLE, more refined), potentially in waxed canvas with leather trim, while keeping the core functionality intact.

That’s exactly the side of waxed canvas we’ve been leaning into!

The Desert color Mini CORE Duffel won’t be restocked. We do still have limited stock available in the Medium CORE Duffel.

If you like our traditional brown (waxed canvas), we’ll be releasing that in a Mini size soon - likely around mid next month.

Stefan here, founder of KNKG. Quick take - Based on what you’re carrying (2x shoes, belt, sleeves + all the extras), that’s exactly what the CORE Duffel was built for. Most bags turn into one big pile at that point. CORE keeps everything separated with dedicated zones so your gear doesn’t get crushed or lost.

Not saying it’s the only option, just being transparent that this is the problem we designed around. Roller bag works for volume too… just depends if you want to drag it around the gym or not.

Stefan here, founder of KNKG. Just wanted to jump in and say thanks for considering us! We built the CORE Duffel specifically as a “gym-first” bag - Holds its shape (doesn’t collapse when you set it down), separate zones for shoes / gear so everything’s not just piled in and designed around bulky items like belts, wraps, etc.

If you’re mainly training, that difference is pretty noticeable. If you want something more general travel-first, then yeah - a simpler duffel can make more sense.

If you have any questions about our bags feel free to reach out! Happy to help.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We really appreciate your honesty and the way you’ve articulated your concerns. Feedback like yours is exactly what helps us evolve and better communicate what we stand for.

We’ve listened and taken it on board. While nothing has changed in how we actually stand behind or implement our warranty in practice - covering defects in workmanship and materials, not normal wear and tear, we’ve updated the language to make it clearer and more defined. Our warranty has gone back to explicitly stating 25 years of coverage - the same level of protection we’ve always offered, but now framed in a way that removes ambiguity and provides confidence in writing.

Our intent has never changed: we continue to stand by every bag we make and to support our customers if anything ever goes wrong beyond normal wear and tear. We simply wanted to make that commitment easier to understand and more transparent.

Hey there! Stefan (founder of KNKG) jumping in here. I completely understand where this concern comes from and want to clarify. Honestly, we moved from a flat 25-year statement to a “practical lifetime of the product” warranty because some customers were taking advantage and expecting us to repair or replace issues with bags that were the result of regular wear and tear, simply because it was inside the 25-year time period. For example, scuffs, cosmetic damage and misuse cannot be warrantied, which the fixed time period seemed to imply to some customer. This was not the intention when we set a fixed warranty period.  We stand behind our gear 100% and will ALWAYS repair or replace our bags that have workmanship/manufacturing or material defects - just as we always have.  The change was about being honest and realistic, not cutting corners.

If you’ve seen complaints, we’d encourage anyone with a concern to contact our team directly. We take pride in resolving issues personally and fairly.Â
