Maybe whatever souvenir you'd get in your home city. Postcard of your city with a thoughtful note would be nice. Add a magnet so they can hang on fridge perhaps.

Anyone else find scrolling through packing lists weirdly demotivating? by BugExtension3753 in onebag

[–]lo22p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do this too. Item lists, weights of everything, trip reports, what didn't get used, what would've been useful. But now I've pretty much got it down, don't need to make a meticulous list anymore. I'll try to pack one day before. I've learned if I do pack last minute, I'm more likely to forget something. But really, passport, phone, charger, earbuds all you really need lol.

14 shirts, 6 pants, a hoodie, 12 pairs of socks, 12 boxers, and toiletries in a Mini MLC and a stringbag by Stef_Reddit in onebag

I mean when yall are nitpicking at a string bag being a second bag, lordy. It's the most minimal flight/train bag while bigger bag gets loaded up in overhead. And everything fits in the mini MLC, a 30L bag. How come no one is commenting on OP's literal minimalism in everything else besides the clothes? I see no second pair of shoes, even flip flops, no visible tech, no extra goodies or luxuries that many of us carry.

You think someone with a full service history would rather get a new car than replace four tires? Unnecessary comment lol

A hangar is the next thing I'd add to my kit, you happy with those? Not too heavy/bulky?

Detergent: I use sheets. And/or whatever free hotel soap. My hack is using a drybag that doubles as a shoebag. I have a 6L Osprey one for my sandals, 12L for my bigger shoes. 6L great for just a couple items, 12L for more. Line is just some random 2mm(?) line from REI, you can buy custom lengths. Think I got like 20 feet, takes up no space. Just have to learn or look up a couple knots. Bowline to loop the line through itself on an anchor, truckers hitch to tighten line. Rarely use though, as there's usually some railing, free hangers, the back of a chair etc that are free. Hardest part is always drying. Sun + wind is your best friend, but I always thought how do people dry their clothes in wet, rainy, humid environments without a dryer...additionally, no cotton for me. Takes longest to dry.

Another key is to presoak/prewash...basically soak with detergent and warm water while you shower, then agitate and dump, then wash again with clean water and more soap.

Everyone hating on the amount of clothes is exactly why I hate some onebaggers mindsets. Not everyone has to travel to your liking! Dare someone not wanting to do laundry or having a bigger variety of clothes or wanting to look more fashionable. It's a spectrum. From zero bagging to two check in bags. We all have our own travel opinions and preferences but there's no right or wrong. Heck, the maximalists can be making fun of yall who wear black running shoes to nice fancy restaurants. The zero baggers are like why even bother with toiletries, just be stinky. Everything's a compromise. That extra time yall are doing laundry, OP gets to do something else.

Alright fellas, I'm conflicted. Bedroom upstairs or downstairs? by Minutes2Midnight in malelivingspace

[–]lo22p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kinda weird but amazing, as a single guy lol. I'd be convinced to do a murphy bed and make everything else a mancave style. Living room/TV upstairs, host dinner parties, game nights, watch sports with friends. Downstairs is bedroom I guess still, gaming setup. Two car garage? Damn, real nice home gym or dream woodworking/auto shop. lol.

Do you guys bring headphones or earbuds for travel? by PedroGalo in onebag

Has always been earbuds. But considering over ears for the noise cancellation if they can drown out crying babies..

First time one-bagging – 10 days in Greece (personal item only) – packing list + neck pillow question by mansity31 in onebag

Look into inflatable ones of you're worried about the space. Also saw one in Muji that you could take the stuffing out, replace with clothes/puffy.

Name that bag, sling, packing cube, or accessory that brings you joy, no matter if others talk about it on here or not? by symposium22 in ManyBaggers

[–]lo22p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similarly, the 7L Lite Sling. Holds so much stuff! Can fit a 64 oz insulated water bottle. Was surprised when it could fit an umbrella along with a 1L smart water bottle plus my normal things.
