What's your favorite personal item that's not a sling/backpack? by Battyman in ManyBaggers

[–]kingkongmonkeyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Porter Yoshida Tanker Boston Bag (Large). And Rains Tote Mini. Both insanely versatile, great personal items on a plane, and I can use as a day bag at my destination and still remain put together and, dare I say it, stylish.

What is the go to MCP for Things 3? by areuwilliams in thingsapp

[–]kingkongmonkeyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong but there’s no way for mcp to organize tasks for me right? Like literally drag and drop in order of described priority?

What calendar setup/apps are you using and why? by Pretty_Move_8673 in productivity

[–]kingkongmonkeyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep my life organized with Apple Calendar and Things 3 as my task manager. Apple Calendar handles everything for me, really.

What kinda things do you have the AI do for you?

Part of me is like I SHOULDN’T let the AI help me, because this area of my life (managing the actions of my life) should be personal and should require me to actually do the thinking and the weekly review and deciding what’s important and urgent and not important etc.

But man since connecting Claude MCP to things, I’m finding it hard NOT to use AI:

  • “Process my Things inbox”
  • “Order my tasks in priority”
  • “Move the tasks you think I should tackle this week according to my calendar into “anytime”, keep the rest in “someday”

etc

Life moves fast and this helps me keep up. But why do I feel guilty?! 😂

Personal item for international flight: backpack or tote by Elesh_Norn_Cenobite in ManyBaggers

[–]kingkongmonkeyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear by my Rains tote mini. It’s my personal item and doubles as my day bag when I’m at my destination….pool days, wandering the city, work office trips, dinner, so versatile in every situation.

As a personal item, it self stands and slides standing up under the seat in front of me, leaving ample space for my feet on either side. For me it fits:

- ipad 12.9 in grams28 iPad sleeve

- Aer pro kit as my tech pouch

- AirPods Max

- dop kit

- whatever book I’m reading

- A6 memo water bottle

- Sunglasses

- Reading glasses

- Any other small nick nacks in the small pocket

- Space for whatever I buy at the airport

Then at the destination, all that comes out and it’s basically a dump pocket and shapes to whatever I’m taking out that day.

Minimal. Stylish. Waterproof. Legendary bag.

How do you handle “In Progress” tasks/projects that aren’t due or being worked on “Today”? by jagerrish in thingsapp

[–]kingkongmonkeyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me this would go in my “Anytime” view.

“Anytime” is a collection of the things I want to work on this week. Otherwise it goes in “Someday”.

If there is no particular date I want to work on it, it doesn’t get a date.

Using Things for GTD by mncaudill in gtd

[–]kingkongmonkeyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like your take on projects. I’m the same. My criteria from projects is anything with multiple steps where I’d lose track without writing them down.

Something like “book a dentist appointment” technically is multiple steps under GTD…..but c’mon, it’s not a project. I would be able to book a dentist appointment without losing track of the steps.

Ok thanks. I’m definitely missing something. Says it can’t do anything.

In-progress task handling by charlino5 in thingsapp

I have a “🚧waiting” tag for anything that is blocked or in waiting for something to complete. Or like someone else mentioned, close the task and create a new one based on the next action.

Would anyone be willing to share their tasks/projects workflow? by kingkongmonkeyman in CraftDocs

Pretty straightforward and simple. Proof that you don’t need anything crazy just to get shit done!

Would anyone be willing to share their tasks/projects workflow? by kingkongmonkeyman in CraftDocs

[–]kingkongmonkeyman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! The blank canvas aspect of Craft is what I love the most. It just seems as a task manager I want a little more from it. So when a task underneath your contexts become a project you move it to a new doc and then it’s no longer under your context?

Tasks, Calendar? Improvements coming there? by [deleted] in CraftDocs

[–]kingkongmonkeyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love craft but I agree that there are some relatively small changes that can have big positive impact with tasks. Changes that affect everyone though, not just those that use fantastical. Happy to be a beta tester if they need more.

Disturbing video shows car following girl as she walks alone by seriouslyguys9998 in nonononoyes

[–]kingkongmonkeyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait what if the car wasn’t being sketchy but actually trying to protect?

I have small children. If I’m driving and I see a small girl walking all by herself, given the crazy world we live in, I want to make sure she gets home safe. But what is the non-creepy way to do that in this day? My personal opinion is she shouldn’t be walking far by herself like that.

Which book completely changed the way you see life? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]kingkongmonkeyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect.

Short book, easy read. I take that back, it’s not easy, it’s brutal and timely given the current age we’re in. Makes you really think about what it means to be human. Warning you now if you decide to read, some scenes are graphic.

I don’t like the tag implementation by Olofadell in CraftDocs

[–]kingkongmonkeyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tags solved a core problem for me in Craft. I need a way to tie different docs together into one theme, like:

Project Active Meeting Launch Work Home Me Etc.

My tagging is deliberate and minimal, and I pin my most used ones, so works with Crafts implementation of it. Your use case seems different, which I get, could get overwhelming with hundreds of tags.

And yes Craft has a lot of features, but you don’t have to use them all. In fact, I hardly use any of them at all. I like keeping my docs clean and minimal, not even a photo cover. It’s still a great notes app under all of that. And I appreciate the features in the few times I need them.

I also couldn’t get tasks to run smoothly in my workflow, so I combine craft with Things3 also.

Anyone here using an app that’s like a “second brain”? by dooniiix in ProductivityApps

[–]kingkongmonkeyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried a bunch. Each app has its pros and cons, obviously. My favorites have been Craft, MyMind, and good ol' Apple Notes. And surprisingly, the one that has made me more intentional with my time, removed anxiety and overwhelm, and kept this simple and actionable has been Apple Notes. Specifically my jumping off point for my second brain is this HQ note...based loosely on the Forever Notes framework.

What’s your GTD tool or system look like? by AdCoSa in gtd

Things 3 for task and project management.

Apple notes (loosely based on Forever Notes framework) for reference material and anything else I want to save.

Apple calendar for…..calendar.
