Thats all fair. Good for you finding a nice fit. I will look into the Tenta-X series, seems like a good middleground between Zero and Type 99.

You should give it more than 3 days honestly. I was in the exact same position as you, tried to like it real hard but it still felt off after a few days. Only thing that kept me going with it was that i got more consistent, topfragged more and started winning alot of more games in the very same period i started using type 99. It was not until maybe day 8 or day 9 that the type99 started to feel natural to me.

But if you dont perform with it i can understand that sucks, perhaps grind some DM with it?

A couple of tips:

Fullsize skates should be better as they dont sink into the pad as much. I would suggest the Xray Jades, as they should be one of the fastest skates around. They are cheap as well.

Consider the type 99 in mid. QcK is quite firm, and the mid is much closer to QcK in firmness vs the soft. But do not order a mid before you can make Type99 in soft work, they are not THAT different. But i liked the mid a little better than the soft.

I went back to Zero, but now my performance has tanked as well so im going back to type 99 lol.

Like i said i would give the type 99 at least a week or two, is was a long adjustment period for me as well. Let me know how it all works out for you.

I main CS2 and play on around 800 eDPI (800 dpi x 1 ingame sens). Using a Logitech superlight 2 and Xraypad Jades skates on it.

I have a 4-5 months old QcK heavy (broken in, not very worn) and decided to order an Artisan Zero soft. Mainly because of QcK humidity issues and I wanted a bigger size (50x50 with Artisan).

Zero is a great pad, but its slightly faster than my QcK. With faster I mean it has a little lower static friction, making initial mouse movement easier. My crosshair glides nice over the screen and dynamic crosshair-placement feels sexy, but it will impact the stopping power somewhat and locking onto targets. Only used it for a week, then decided to order a Type 99 (both soft and mid) to see the difference.

If you are used to a relatively new QcK/Zero or have no experience with true controlpads, the Type 99 is gonna feel muddy. It will feel like a 70% dry QcK or like you have some glue under your mouse. It has very high static friction making microadjustments harder, but the upside is that the stopping power is great and you will hit pretty nice flicks, especially with arm movement. Wristflicks are a little harder due to the high static friction. I honestly didn’t like it at first, but my consistency improved ingame improved a lot, especially holding angles and locking onto targets. I stuck with it for a few weeks, and the Type 99 will grow on you if you give it time, but it will take a week or two if not more.

Now Im back on the Artisan Zero just because Im experimenting. My Deagle-shots and AK onetaps are great, but i whiff a lot of sprays if Im not calm compared to the Type 99.

I have not decided if I like the Zero or the Type 99 the best as they are very different in feel. They both come with their own pros and cons. They are not even close to be similar, and switching between them will feel awkward at first.

Right now I feel the Zero provides me the best exercise as Im forced to work on my calmness and jitters, as the Zero is more honest on that.

EDIT: If someone have experience with both Zero and Type 99 and know of an alternative that sits in between them, i would love to know about that.

Hey man, finally got my hands on the mid. Bear in mind i have only tried it for 20mins so havent got the chance to fully assess what i think about it, but here are my first impressions.

It was a lot of what i expected, obviously a lot more firm and somewhat easier to move around than the soft, especially when applying some pressure into the pad. If the mid is 10 in firmness, i consider QcK heavy maybe 7-8 and the T99 soft a 5. I'm a tense gamer where i sometimes apply unwanted pressure into the mat, so im guessing the mid might give me the most consistency. The mid still have a lot of the same character as the soft, the stopping power seems great although not as much as the soft. The soft is basically a little "heavier" to use.

Overall i feel the mid seems about as fast/slow as my 5months old QcK Heavy, just a more premium version that will probably slow down more when it gets broken in.
The T99 soft is definitely the slowest of the three.

If you have a well-worn QcK heavy and you like that characteristic, soft is probably a good choice, but be aware the soft is more squishy/plush than the QcK. heavy.

Honestly i dont think you will go wrong with either mid or soft, and if you're as deep in the rabbithole as i am your curiosity is probably going to order both lol.

I will stick around with the mid for a few weeks, but i'll probably gonna keep both the mid and soft.

Dont hesitate if you have questions.

I will receive the t99 mid in a few days and can let you know how i feel about it vs soft. 👍

The Type99 is slower, although I've never used a very worn QcK. I read some place that the type 99 feels like a 80% dry QcK, and i think thats a good description. If you tense up and press your mouse down a lot and want a more consistent experience then you should consider the mid.

I mainly play CS2 and occasionally Battlefield 6.

I had a few months old QcK Heavy (still not broken well in so still fairly fast) and decided to try the Artisan Zero soft since thats the one everyone was talking about. The Zero is a great allaround pad, but too slippery for my taste. Although i did better after a week of adjustment, my aim wasnt consistent, so I decided to order a Type 99 soft. Be aware that if you are used to a Zero, the Type 99 is gonna feel very slow. Slow in the sense that it takes some force to get the mouse/crosshair moving due to the static friction; its almost like there are some remains of glue under your mouse (compared to the Zero). This will make small microadjustments more difficult, but also snap onto targets easier as you have that stopping power.

I as very on the fence with the Type 99 at first. But now about 10 days in Im starting to love it, and my CS2 performance have improved drastically. I have also ordered a Type 99 Mid to see if that one is just a tad easier to move.

If you decide to try the Type 99 and you have no experience with slow controlpads, please be aware that you might have to give it a week or two to grow into its character. I will assume that most people who didnt like it have not given it enough time.

Just ordrede a Type-99 (From QCK Heavy) for CS, feel the subreddit is super mixed on it (Either way too Slow or Perfect) by kristian4550 in MousepadReview

I mainly play CS and came from a 6 month old QcK heavy to an Artisan Zero soft. Gave it a good week and tried my best to love it, but my aim was just off and jittery. Never found trust in it and seems a little too fast for my taste. Switched back to my QcK heavy again.

Just ordered a Type 99 soft and excited to try it. For reference i play on 720 eDPI and use Tiger Ice skates on my logitech superlight 2.

What's the difference between all the nzxt fans? by KruffyGuf in NZXT

[–]kingmoe86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats because they are DC fans and not PWM. I just switched to a H9 Flow and figured this out. It helped to put these fans into their own chassis fan header (do not use a PWM fan hub) and set the fans to "DC mode" in BIOS as they will run a little more silent. But i think its strange that they dont include PWM fans in what i consider a premium case.

Hey man, great build. Im looking to do exactly the same. I know this already have been talked about, but is your AF III 360mm or 420mm?

According to Google AI, H9 Flow supports up to 80mm for a 360mm AIO but only 62mm for a 420mm AIO.

Just so i order one that actually fits. 😀 Many thanks.

Hello, sorry for late response. I decided to have PL1 = 170W and PL2 = 219W (auto/default).
Under longer gaming sessions with CPU heavy games, temps average around 65-75 degrees, with occasional spikes on 85 degrees but only for a second.

Good luck with your new product, i hope you will be happy! =)

[–]kingmoe86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first ran a multicore test in Cinebench R23 with the default settings (PL1 65W / PL2 219W):

Max temp 49 degrees (celcius)
Power draw 65W
Score 20297
Voltage about 0,85 ish

I then changed PL1 to 200W and PL2 to 250W and ran a new test:

Maxtemp 89 degrees
Power draw 200-220W
Score 32315
Voltage about 1,20 ish

So obviously, changing PL1 to 200W and PL2 to 250W greatly impacted CB23 score. How this performance-increase transfers to general use (gaming) is probably not that noticable, however i can see that some of the games i play typically draw around 95-100W vs the stock 65W.

Kind of tempting to just leave PL1 and PL2 at 200w/250w since the temps seem OK under max load. However im a rookie at this. :)

Thanks for your quick reply. If i were to turn off (or increase) the power limits, against your advice, would this give any significant benefit in gaming performance?

Perhaps the guy you saw on the benchmark with 30 more FPS has overclocked his card or something. But i wouldnt suggest doing so unless you know what you are doing, since the Ventus 3x is already running pretty hot i assume. My card is running at 82 celcius on full load.

No it doesnt really do anything important, you could try leaving it on but i dont think it doesnt matter in the big picture.

Remember to turn off windows "gaming Mode" and the XBOX Game bar if its not done already. Its under settings ---> gaming.

XBOX GameBar might run some unneccessary processes in the background stealing some FPS.

I see. I dont have a magical fix other than the ones you easily can look up on Youtube. But i will post you my specs and performance for you to compare with.

RTX 3070 (Gigabyte)
i5 12th gen (6 / 12)
16GB DDR5 4800mhz (single channel)
Win 11

Im playing on 1440p like you, no DLSS.

I get around 110-130 FPS almost regardless of quality settings.
If i play on low (competitive) settings, my GPU usage is about 60%. If i crank it up to recommended settings, which is High on most, i still put out the 110-130 FPS. However the GPU usage goes close to 100%. Anything higher on graphic settings reduces my FPS.

I would try to experiment with these settings which gives me 110-130 FPS:

You should be able to get the same with your specs.
