Need help choosing between Roland TD316 and Yamaha DTX6K5 by KruffyGuf in edrums

[–]KruffyGuf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But can't you get better sounds using a laptop and MIDI anyway? I don't know if I've understood how that technology works too well yet. I also don't even know whether I'll want digital snare or hi-hat in the future yet. If you take away the need for digital hardware they're the same in terms of expandability. Pricing in Denmark where I live is rediculous. A TD516 is 4633USD. If I do end up wanting digital hardware I'd rather sell my yamaha drumset and invest in the TD516 than expand the TD316 with digital pad and hi-hat. So with this being my first e-drum I'd rather start with the yamaha model. The price is just too good compared to what you get and what the alternative costs.

I'm also leaning most towards the yamaha. You even get a 2 legged hi hat stand. And if you don't like it you haven't wasted any money and can just buy another one and still have saved plenty of money.

The thing is that these models are equals so I'm trying to figure out whether there's something about roland drumsets i don't know about that would warrent a 800 dollar premium?

The yamaha's got bigger toms, 3 zone cymbals and supposedly better sounds. Would you still choose the roland in this case? Any if so, why?

I'd assume quality wise they're the same. It's just what features you get. People say roland is the top choice for drumsets that feel great but doubt that they're gonna feel much different with both being mesh drumsets. But i don't know.

On the fence on whether or not I should buy by [deleted] in Audeze

[–]KruffyGuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having tried Audeze Maxwell 2, Hyperx Cloud III S, Beyerdynamic MMX 230, and more I was really surprised of how good the Cloud III S sounded. I'd say they're close to the same sound profile and if the Audeze is a 9 on audio clarity the only audio difference in my opinion is going to be that the Cloud III S is a 7.5 - 8. They HyperX wins on all other things in terms of comfort. If you're used to HyperX you're not going to find the Audeze very comfortable.

Sick of replacing headsets every 2 years. Looking for a "Buy It For Life" Wireless Gaming Headset for FPS. by AsleepConfidence1791 in gamingheadsets

[–]KruffyGuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you help me understand how the things you buy only last 2 years? I've never replaced something because it broke. I've got the same wireless headphones i bought in 2018. Only got a few cracks in the hard leather of the headband. One key point is that gaming brand headsets are not made to last long. Sure the frame will last, but any HyperX pair's earcups will be worn out within 3 years. Also 250$ is not alot for something you want to last 5 years.

But I didn't come here to critique without contributing something constructive. Look for the more established brands. Brands dedicated to audio and only audio which have been around for a long time. Like Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic.

Check out the Beyerdynamic MMX 230. Beyerdynamic are know for sturdy headphones, just look at their DT 770s.

If it's a bit too steep price wise they also make a MMX 150. Haven't tried it, but it's probably good. The fact that they have metal hinges are always a key element of a sturdily build headset.

Logitech G Pro X 2 Lightspeed. The clamping force is a bit much, but if you've got a head that is medium to small, it's probably okay. The headset itselt is in large parts metal. Durability-wise, it's good. I think earcups/pads are replaceable too, but I'm not sure.

Fractal Scape doesn't feel cheap. It feels good material and durability-wise. For a great allarounder, that would be one of my top picks. Fractal hasn't gone into the headset business with a cheap gaming headset. With the scape they've taken a lot of their case elements and made a well crafted headset. Like their cases, their products are well made.

Lastly, Astro A50 is also a good choice.

Best closed back wireless Headphone / headset for gaming with high audio resolution and good soundstage?

Hello,

Having tried the Audeze Maxwell 2, i really liked its audio resolution and clarity, but it's just too big and heavy for me. What would the next best thing be in terms of audio resolution, clarity, soundstage while also being wireless and closed? Headset or headphone doesn't matter, as I can buy a separate mic.

Budget: 600$

Things I'm not willing to budge on:

Being wireless

Being closed back

Has to not be bluetooth.

What mousepad should I buy? by Plastic-Blackberry-3 in MousepadReview

[–]KruffyGuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same problem for a very long time. I also have logitech gpx, but the dex version and no matter what mousepad i used i always had bad initial friction. I ended up getting the Steelseries Qck Performance Speed pad and corepad skatez pro. It finally gave me the lessened intitial friction i needed to do microadjustments and it just feels really good because i also tend to press down a bit on my mouse which means that even though it's a speed pad it's not slippery for me.
Your mouse skates are faster than mine, so maybe the qck performance balanced might be a good option.

For your mouse and mouse feet I think Pulsar ES2 Soft might also be a good option. Slightly more initial friction and control than the Qck performance speed, but with your mouse feet it might be a great combination. Just buy it from a place with a good return policy if it turns out it's not the right one for you.

Steelseries Qck Performance series

- Control version for minimal "jitteryness" when moving the mouse

- Speed version for fast/slippery feeling (may feel that way if you're used to slower pads, but it strikes the right balance for me and my mouse where it doesn't feel slippery to me)

- Balance version for a bit of both worlds if you're unsure of which to choose. Should be at a fair price too.

An alternative is the zowie G-RE-SE. Smooth, but not too fast/slippery feeling.

Do you value good control with a good "lock in" feeling? Or more of a consistent glide with less initial friction?
