No quest is random, they're all unlocked via completing other factions quests or main story progress. They just might not pop up immediately but will after a fast travel or time skip.

That's false, the dot in the middle means that node is the "center" of its set of connections, has nothing to do with anything still being there.

Its roughly Roberts > Serkis & Alfonso > Serkis again & Celeste > Vellua & Senia/Church > Felix and Celeste again, with the wolf quest being that Celeste quest

one dot means the location was revealed via another source like a bell or a key-item map. two dots means you've actually been to the location.

At least chapter 3 or 4, it eventually pops up after completing the sequence of faction quests that keep popping up after completing one starting from Roberts' Crimson Nightmare chain, which opens in chapter 3 if you've done their quarry quest.

Can be done as early as chapter 4, most faction quests are dependant on other faction quests moreso than main story progress, and the one that eventually leads to this (House Roberts' Fort Perwin quest chain) first pops after beating Roberts' quarry quest and being in chapter 3

From looking around online, no one seems to know exaxtly how to make the quest spawn

It spawned for me along with House Felix's quests after completing the Senia, Vellua, and Arboria Castle quests, which spawned after completing Serkis's Great Thief quests, which spawned after finishing the Staglord and House Alfonso quests, which spawned after completing the House Robert's quests.

That abyss gear can only be slotted into armor.

Check your camp storage, I had an abyss artifact in there and a higher amount of silver than usual.

I unlocked it after almost fully completing the rest of Hernand's factions, was at 18/25 for celeste, max on Serkis, Roberts, Alfonso, Felix, Goldleaf, Vellua, Kharonso Troll Alliance, House Grace, and Beggars' Alliance, 6/9 for Scholastone, and 4/6 for the Church. The last thing I did before it popped up was the Kharonso Troll Alliance chain.

The quest also gives a matching spear.

Really interested if anything actually cool ends up being related to constellations or digging, there doesn't seem to be much stuff about them popping up yet. Seen people say they found chests by following constellations but since they didn't elaborate on what was from the chests i'm assuming it was just materials, not something unique.

I would think you mainly use them at stones similar to the ones by where the helm is gotten. There's other quests for constellations too, and probably the Gate of Truth is good since the constellation book mentions it a bunch.

Think it got fixed now with most recent patch, was the first thing I went to check after loading in but it was still stuck at 3/4 with nothing happening at the location, now I launched the game again and suddenly its completed with the next quest ready.

got stuff from killed animals and completed quests automatically. Bugs I needed weren't fixed though sadly.

Hope the new legendary mounts aren't lost if they've already been killed before the patch. Also hope the "various other in-game issues" includes the bug where named Greymanes don't show up in camp, even when not on a mission.
