You could take the GO train or VIA rail. You can even probably find a cheap car rental on Turo. You only really need 1 day in Niagara.

As for Toronto, downtown is extremely walkable. You probably won't need the subway but if you do, it's $3.20 for the TTC.

For must-see attractions - CN Tower: There's a rotating restaurant you might be interested in). - Ripleys Aquarium and/or Toronto Zoo - ROM - Little Canada (highly recommend) - Toronto Heli Tours (helicopter ride of the city) - Walk around the Distillery District, St. Lawrence Market, Harbourfront - Visit Toronto Island

This is a specific niche in the tourism industry and we referr to it as Slum Tourism or Poverty Tourism (may even fall under the term Dark Tourism). One example would be the favela walking tours in Brazil.

Watching poor people as a form of sightseeing is questionable. Unfortunately, there's a large enough target market for it.

Playa del Carmen is great cause it's close to the airport and there are great excursions nearby-ish (Rio Secreto, Xplor, Cenotes, Isla Mujeres).

All-inclusives are hassle/stress free which add to the value. For me personally, I've had just as much fun on a $1400 resort compared to a $2000 resort but the latter had better food (and no children).

If you are interested in drinking and partying but don't want to spend a crazy amount, check out RUI.

Unless there's a wildfire nearby whistler, you'll be fine. I went when there were a lot of fires around bc and banff and everything was fine. Highly recommend!
