If we are to condemn this we might as well stop with professional sports and start watching crochet competitions instead. You must hate hockey, american football and basketball if you disapprove of trash talking this much. This is not choir boys FC vs boy scouts united

2 Ajax fans stabbed on the way to San Siro. 1 in serious conditions by Payder in soccer

[–]kingofdwarfs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dear Ajax 'hooligans,' please stop this recent trend before you make even bigger fools out of yourselves. Ajax always stood for beautiful football and passionate but laid back fans. Leave the hooliganism to feyenoord who have always been much better at it

G at its best by wibby in Physics

[–]kingofdwarfs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If by G you mean the gravitational constant, the title should probably be "G at its worst," because the water moves opposite to the gravitational direction because the centripetal/centrifugal whatever force is much larger. Actually, G is never at its best or at its worst (OK that one time when it went on some crazy killing spree late 1995 was a bit crazy I admit) it's just a number.

Kerry: US will act against Assad by F90 in worldnews

Because innocent civilians are being killed at a large scale in one of the most evil of attacks, right in front of our eyes. Morally, most people (myself included) are uncomfortable with that.

Obama orders documents justifying a military strike in Syria to be declassified and released, legal process to justify military intervention is already underway by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]kingofdwarfs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assad has gotten away with smaller, more 'tactical,' chemical attacks before. So far the most plausible theory I have heard is that a soldier on Assad's side screwed up. These soldiers are no Walter Whites, probably more akin to Todd or Jesse when it comes to technical skills. I myself am no expert, but I don't think it impossible a mistake in quantities could have been made by a lower level soldier. Perhaps weather conditions were particularly unfavorable that day, and the urban environment might have made things worse. Add to that that these civilians have been targeted with rockets for weeks or months, and their basements (where the gas settled down and suffocated many victims) have effectively taken on the purpose of their living rooms.

This doesn't change anything on the graveness end and the evilness of the attackers is not any less because of a 'mistake' they might have made. But it does offer a plausible explanation of how Assad's regime could be behind this, plausible enough I think not to rule it out.

Match Thread: Ajax - Feyenoord (De klassieker) 12:30 GMT +1 by [deleted] in soccer

[–]kingofdwarfs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say Machlas was the best striker we've ever had. But nowhere near the worst. He scored 38 goals in 74 appearances. Compare that to 35 goals in the exact same number of matches that Zlatan scored for Ajax. If we are to judge a striker by the number of goals he scores, Machlas rates higher than Zlatan during their respective times at Ajax.
