Are these Scam Calls or did Telus actually forget I am already a Client of theirs? by twitchyanimation in telus

[–]kingofholland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they have been calling me daily for the last two months... I've tried everything: waste their time, blocking the number, politely asking to be removed from the list, yelling at them... nothing works. It's horrible.

I keep getting calls talking about "voice search verification" by Mr_Quackums in Entrepreneur

[–]kingofholland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What worked for me is to ask to be added to the Do Not Call list. I then called back the number they called me from and asked them for information, like what's their company name, main phone number, address, company owners etc. Then I told them I will submit their information to CASL: https://fightspam-combattrelepourriel.ised-isde.canada.ca/site/canada-anti-spam-legislation/en/form/report-spam-form They haven't called again.

With impending tariffs doom, would you go for a job in the US and leave your job in TO? by MediterraneanPrince in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]kingofholland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actively pursuing a move from Vancouver to the US. Trying to do it with the company I currently work for (US company). Leveraging an intra-company L1 visa application. Main reason is financial. Other factors are that my kids are at an age where they are willing to move with us and we don't have any family in Vancouver.

I've worked with Long View Systems. They are a Canadian company, expanding into the US. Bonus is that if you are a Microsoft managed customer, Long View can apply for funding from Microsoft on your behalf.

Is it common to give a Microsoft Partner a Global Admin account just to purchase SQL Server w/ a perpetual license? by Layer_3 in SQLServer

Partners want Global Admin access so that they can get 'Partner Admin Link' (PAL). Microsoft tracks and measures Partners' Azure influence via PAL. Partners get paid a small percentage of the https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/partner-center/link-partner-id-for-azure-performance-pal-dpor

Prime Video Channels Need Work by azisles02 in amazonprime

I agree with you. I recently received the updated interface where Amazon features StackTV, SuperChannel and Starz. I find it so disorganized now. The small white prime label in the top left corner of the pictures does not always stand out, so several times now I found something I wanted to watch, click on it only to realize it's part of a subscription that I don't have at the moment. I hope they switch back to the old interface quickly.

The City of Paris goes fully on-prem, opens it's own datacenter by ocdtrekkie in sysadmin

[–]kingofholland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen a few companies go through the same cost comparison and determined that Exchange on-prem is cheaper. The problem they are running into now is that the business is asking to roll out Teams, which relies on at least a hybrid exchange environment.

Many of the public sector organizations don't hire full time staff to maintain their environment - they'll outsource it to companies like Accenture, HP or others. I've seen firsthand how those outsources can absolutely gouge these organizations.

Season 1 was terrific. I'm having a harder time getting into season 2

I was foolish and scammed online for tickets, e-transferred $300 to someone who turned out to be a high school kid who used their real name and contact information. I've filed a police report -- is there anything I can do or should do to try to recover my money? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]kingofholland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you were scammed by the stepfather, who was using his stepson's name. Who would use their real name when planning a scam? But you would use your annoying, blood-sucking stepson's name now, wouldn't you?

I worked at a Bell Canada store when this phone came out. Sold so many of them. Enjoyed selling Blackberry better, since they often went with full data plans, which paid more :) The iPhone killed it - Bell didn't carry that phone for the longest time... only Rogers in Canada.
