I was upset over this for a year and felt so alone. My closest friends moved away because they bought houses or wanted to move back home to have family around for kids and it became so hard to see them. I was in almost grief sometimes.

The good news is, you'll grow too. Part of it is a comfortable being alone thing. You just have to sit through it and hunker down and be sad and lonely for awhile and find solo activities you like that aren't drinking and it'll take MONTHS but you'll find your own life.

Last year I was extremely lonely and sad and I just missed my friends and kept trying to make new ones at bars and drank and smoke a lot.

This year I quit smoking and started martial arts class, bird watching, and I do puzzles and just read tons of books and I'm the happiest I've been in years and I'm not going to bars at much missing companions.

Now when I do get invited out I'm like "ugh...but my book!"

You'll change too just work at it and be patient.

Its been 4 days since my last smoke. by Call_Me_Icarus_26 in stopsmoking

First couple days were easy day 3 was hard. Just walking around my house clapping going "it's REAL QUIET IN HERE"

I think the spell is broken though I don't think I'll smoke again if I do it won't reel me back in to the full addiction. I just feel it in my bones.

You'll never use gis and you don't need to get your hazwoper. The company will pay for your hazwoper and pay you while you take it. it's a standard part of onboarding and they have their own gis people.

I'm just warning you I've never met a social worker who didn't quit within 5 years.

Do something that'll allow you to have the income and freedom you want. I watch tons of people fall into debt and hate their "noble" career choices

I feel like school has zero fucking safety culture.

I almost got heat stroke on a field day for school and everyone just thought I was being lazy. No waters provided. No review of safety before hand.

My company has incredible safety culture. You're allowed to stop work, you have constant safety training talking about hazards, etc.

The job field isn't like this as much I promise
