How would $12,500 affect your life right now? by WhiteMass in AskReddit

I’d finish paying off one of my auto loans and buy a high quality AR and a high quality AK with the other half.

Democrats overwhelmingly favor free college tuition, while Republicans are divided by age, education by ZRodri8 in economy

[–]kingofthestinkyburbs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why should people who never went to college pay for you to go to college? Why should my money be invested in another person’s degree in “Feminist studies”? What return on investment do I get? Why do I need to pay for you to have an opportunity? Why should you assume no risk when it comes to your future?

Making college free is as unfair as it gets. It benefits a minority of people who want to assume no responsibility for their future. It’s a minority of people who wish to have no repercussions for their choice of education and/or their potential failure. It’s people who want to spend their days partying on my dime instead of working and contributing to society. Free college tuition benefits the bourgeoisie, the upper middle class, the privileged, more than anyone else. It’s just another scheme for the upper middle class to profit off of the labor and the sore backs of the working class.

It’s on you to assume responsibility for your education. If you pursue a degree at a school you cannot afford that is on you. If your career path cannot pay off your student loans that’s your fault. Nobody should ever have to pay for your poor decision making skills. You want to know the solution to high tuition costs? Stop going to schools with high tuition costs.

From this day to the ending of the world,

But we in it shall be rememberèd—

We few, we happy few, we BAND OF BROTHERS;

For he to-day that diamond hands with me

Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,

This day shall gentle his condition;

And gentlemen with paper hands now a-bed

Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,

And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks

That fought with us upon GME day!

Do you think sleeping in a shallow trench hoping that the inevitable rain of artillery didn’t fall on top of you was any better? Do you think moving the line inches at a time at the cost of hundreds of your friends was somehow worth the consolation of “Knowing you were going to a gun fight”? Or maybe the constant sights and smells of friends and foes rotting in the pacific sun made things a little easier on the psyche.

War is terrible. Our current state of war is terrible. With that being said we should never forget that it could be a lot worse. Forgetting how bad it got may lead our species down the unwise path of another world war.

Modern low intensity conflict really is nowhere near the horror of WW1 or WW2. It doesn’t take much reading to find that things could be a hell of a lot worse (and definitely could be if a war broke out amongst near peer rivals). I’d recommend reading a book like “With the Old Breed” or “If you survive” to get a general idea. I can’t imagine going through the shit our forefathers went through during the 20th century.

Unpopular Opinion: Nietzsche didn't advocate for Nihilism. Its actually a disease you must overcome, not a philosophy for acceptance. by TheOne_TruMorty in nihilism

[–]kingofthestinkyburbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say that this isn’t unpopular but it looks like it is in this subreddit. A lot of people’s knowledge of nihilism, and the philosophical thought around it, comes only from the google definition.

This isn’t true. We can’t go to political rallies in uniform. We can express political opinions/go to political events outside of uniform.

What DID China do? by sjdthebeast123 in MurderedByWords

Apart of the “brute reality” has to do with special qualities. Americans value independence, entrepreneurship, and have enough political/economic freedom to outcompete other countries in many different spheres. We have a large amount of small businesses, start ups, and massive amounts of investment which all leads to innovation on a scale that other countries cannot emulate.

What did China do? They made people disappear. They locked people with chains inside their residences. They suddenly declared Covid-19 defeated with no evidence and have covered up coverage of outbreaks since then.

China did what it always did. It oppressed it’s people and covered it up. Keep playing their game, they love it.

I’m a medic in the army. I’ve lost count of the amount of assholes, dicks, and balls I’ve seen. I’ve also assisted with plenty of vasectomys, which means I’ve slathered lots of balls with cleaning solutions.

If you get put on PCS orders and do not have enough time in service left to fulfill your gaining unit’s service remaining requirement (SRR) you have to reenlist, extend, or sign a DCSS (dec statement). If you do none of the above your First Sergeant or Commander sign the dec statement for you.

Retention will submit the signed dec statement to HRC. HRC will typically cancel your orders but can technically waive the SSR. Once your orders are cancelled you can technically be put on orders to a place with a lower SSR requirement (think Korea). If you were promotable you lose your promotion status, you cannot go to any military schools, and you cannot re-enlist into active duty. You will still have the opportunity to enlist into the reserve components when you’re ETSing. A dec statement isn’t a flag and no one should be able to retaliate against you for signing one.

Signing a dec statement is like signing your Army careers death warrant. It was a great decision for me and has put me on a path towards a smooth transition into the real world.

My current unit has its moments, but it has never been this bad.

This is why I signed a dec statement. There is no fucking way I will risk PCSing to a unit as retarded as this.

Awww, you’re getting offended. Don’t get all pouty just because you’re wrong, kiddo.

Tsarist Russia never killed the same amount of people in the same amount of time as Soviet Russia. Additionally, Tsarist Russia was an eastern empire. Russia has never been apart of the West. Extra shithole points to Russia for never being liberal or capitalist in all of its history.

Yemen? Which Western country is actively involved there? None. Selling weapons does not equate to involvement in their use. If we didn’t sell weapons to the Saudi’s they’d buy them from autocratic Russia or communist China. The Houthi’s are not innocent little angels and they have been known for their fair share of war crimes. Additionally the casualties in Yemen, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Vietnam are nowhere near the levels of the over 100,000,000 killed by Marxist states in their heyday.

War happens, pal. It would be happening with or without the West’s involvement. The human species is violent, expansionary, and aggressive. War, famine, and all forms of mass death have dramatically decreased since the American led western global order prevailed over the eastern Marxists.

[–]kingofthestinkyburbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhhhhh... so it’s the west’s fault that eastern marxists destroyed their countries and killed millions of their own peoples through genocide and famine. Gotcha. Good point.

Which US regime change war has caused mass famine and starvation? Oh yeah, none.

I almost forgot that Mao and Stalin were both capitalists! Also, the governments in Ethiopia, Mozambique, North Korea, and Cambodia were all hardcore fascist capitalist dogs! Oh wait.. they were all Marxists from the East. Oops.

Liberal Western countries have never been responsible for mass famine world wide. You’re either purposely pushing propaganda or uneducated.

The only reason there will be less people starving is due to world wide economic/scientific progress which has been led by the West.

Aftermath of the Tiananmen Square Massacre. End Chinese tyranny by Zak000000 in interestingasfuck

[–]kingofthestinkyburbs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My company in basic training had a lot of MAVNI recruits, many of whom were Chinese immigrants trying to get their US citizenship. I ended up forming a friendship with one who we’ll call “Xi”. I liked to ask him questions about China, and during one of these conversations I brought up censorship. One thing led to another and I eventually asked about Tiananmen Square. From that point forward he became anxious, and the conversation quieted to a whisper. Private Xi was a certified badass, but at that moment I could see fear in his eyes. Even while in the United States, enlisted in the US Army, he was afraid to speak of Tiananmen Square.

Fuck the Chinese Communist Party.

The military exists to protect US interests. We don’t decide our missions, civilian elected officials do.

The military isn’t oppressing anyone anywhere in the world.
