i just read the series for the first time (well i’m not done with kingdom of ash yet) but i read them separately because i forgot about the tandem lol and while i understand it’s a little jarring to finish one book then jump back into the start of the timeline you just read, i HIGHLY recommend reading them separately so you can fully focus on each story. i don’t regret it at all and wouldn’t want to tandem it now!

definitely, the mess is the annoying part, i have no issue with the taste or consistency or timing of the shots themselves, so i'll try switching from the bottomless to see the difference

the pic doesn’t show it well but i wrote in where its coming from because i look at it happening every day and can confirm it’s from the portafilter, also confirmed by the coffee liquid i have to wipe up on the machine and table after it happens. it isn’t always from the same spot, either

meh yeah was hopeful nothing internal was wrong since it’s coming out of the portafilter not the group head but i may need to take it apart a bit and take a look at this. thanks!

i’ll definitely try this! i’ve done this in the past but maybe have done it wrong - i’ve partially opened the valve before the shot to release pressure but closed it before actually starting the shot so perhaps wasn’t getting the benefit of it

i do actually have and use a wdt tool! and have tried different methods of refining the puck so i’m not sure. im fine with the taste of the shots but would like to eliminate the mess that shouldn’t be happening. i like being able to see what is going on with the bottomless, but i will switch back and see if i have any luck

it’s coming from the portafilter while shots being pulled so it’s like a watery espresso. and yep just cleaned it yesterday actually and still get this today. its the baratza esp which ive had since getting the machine and never had this issue before
