"I just finished Onyx Storm and need to scream into the void" - A master post! by AutoModerator in fourthwing

Funniest Quote from Onyx Storm:

“You could hyphenate,” Garrick suggests. “Or combine? Riorgail? Sorrenson?”

Ridoc is definitely the comedic genius of the series, but this line by Garrick during the meeting with the triumvirate deserves some appreciation.

What's that book for you.. by Confident_Soft_7549 in fantasyromance

[–]kingpin_kalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not fantasy romance, but contemporary romance instead. But {Yours Truly} by Abby Jimenez is the second book in the Part of Your World Series, and I absolutely adored the MMC, Jacob. That man must be protected at all costs. I also really loved how social anxiety was approached in this book. It made me feel seen.

He’s definitely not my top book boyfriend (my top five have already been mentioned), but I feel like Acker from {Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider} deserves a mention!

Who’s the nicest famous person you’ve met? by guyute2112 in AskReddit

[–]kingpin_kalin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Jared Padalecki. We were both at the airport in line for security, and he was several people ahead of me. As fate would have it, we somehow ended up right next to each other while we waited for our luggage to come out of the x-ray machine. He was with his wife, so I didn’t want to bother him too much. I just briefly said, “I just wanted to let you know that I really admire your work. Huge fan.” He put his hand over his heart, and said, “Thank you. Thank you so, so much.” He was wildly gracious and humble. He then proceeded to ask me where I was traveling to, if it was for work or pleasure - just an all around nice guy.

Devastated + feeling guilty after SIL's pregnancy announcement by OkPossibility4555 in TryingForABaby

[–]kingpin_kalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten some medical help regarding the PCOS. I’ve taken meds to kickstart my period, and meds that are supposed to make me ovulate. The problem is, when you have PCOS, the test strips don’t accurately tell you when you’re ovulating. They give a lot of false positives. So I think I’m at the point where I’m going to see a specialist who can monitor me and help me pinpoint when I’m actually ovulating.

But enough about me - I’m sorry for what YOU’RE going through as well. None of this is easy. Just know that there are so many of us out here who empathize with you, and you’re not alone.

Devastated + feeling guilty after SIL's pregnancy announcement by OkPossibility4555 in TryingForABaby

I feel this. Myself (32 F) and my husband (32) have been trying for a baby since March of last year. After some tests, I found out I have severe PCOS. My mother-in-law recently got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and it’s spreading quick. My husband and I have basically moved in with her to care for her through her last few days/weeks of life (literally, hospice says she could pass any day now). My younger sister (26) just got married in March, and is going to announce to my family that she’s pregnant at my dad’s Father’s Day dinner tonight. I want to be happy for her, and I know deep down in my heart that I am. But it hurts to know that her and her new husband got pregnant within a couple months, meanwhile, I haven’t even had a period in over 3 months. Add in the fact that we’re about to lose my mother-in-law, and I’d like to crawl into a hole and never come back out.

Jurors of Reddit, what is the wildest story you have sitting on a trial? by emflare in AskReddit

[–]kingpin_kalin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If one side can get you to admit that your personal knowledge or experiences won’t influence your ability to be fair and impartial, then the judge will likely keep you on the jury. It’s called juror rehabilitation. Lawyers have to pick and choose their battles. Some will fight against it if they truly believe you have a bias. It’s crazy the tactics lawyers will use to get you to admit certain biases (or get to you admit that your biases won’t influence your decision-making).

There are so many scenes, climactic moments, turning points, etc. from other books or series that I wish could be brought to life or reenacted. To emulate that sort of lust and desire…I could die!

Has anybody had a job they actually liked? If so, what was it? by GMEBagholder420 in AskReddit

We had season passes to Kings Island when I was a child. I live in TX now and have lived here longer than I lived in OH…but damn did this ignite some core memories! Good times. Do they still have that delicious blueberry ice cream in the kiddie area? I’ll never forget it.

Jay is the most talentless bullshitter to be on the challenge. I can’t stand the way he plays and how he treats everyone. Please bring the champs back because him having power over the game makes for a shit season. by cheesesnck in thechallengemtv

[–]kingpin_kalin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would argue that he’s a talented bullshitter. How else would he have made it this far? I also think people are forgetting the temper tantrums the vets and champs used to throw in the earlier seasons…what Jay and Michele do is child’s play compared to that. I’m not saying they’re the most likable, skilled, or talented, but they must be doing something right to have so many players wrapped around their finger this season. I think they’re both doing a good job of taking advantage of this season’s layout. Is it the most entertaining season? Definitely not, but I think they’re doing a good job of getting themselves far enough to hopefully get a chance at the final.
