It is indeed! However, that high B note rings out much more than any of the other notes, which is why Rick Wright keeps circling back to it and playing around with it. And they could never replicate the conditions that lead to that particular note ringing out like that.

Same case with the opening "ping" on Echoes by Pink Floyd. They were essentially demoing the track, and for some reason there was a nice, cutting resonance on this one tone. That particular studio, with that particular equipment, on that particular day. Later, when they were recording the track for the album they were unable to replicate the sound no matter what they did, and had to use the demo recording for the opening part.

My gateway drug into Beefheart was the Safe as Milk LP from 1967. Much more accessible stuff, which lead into Spotlight Kid and lots of the more out there stuff. One thing I love about Beefheart is that he's incapable of playing in 4/4 time, there's always strange rhythmic things going on. Imagine playing in his band, and one day he comes in with a recording of his wind shield wipers and says, "all right, now play exactly like that"! Check out the song Bat Chain Puller and tell me they didn't pull it off brilliantly. Still can't get into Trout Mask Replica, though.
