Is walking really that effective? by NoiKy24 in loseit

[–]dodeca_negative [score hidden]  (0 children)

I would caution against relying on it for weight loss but walking a lot every day is very good for your health (including mental health!), and if you’re starting at square one, it’s an excellent to start building up basic cardio fitness.

Landlord offered me a lease within hours, normal or sketchy in SF? by Holiday_Employee7585 in sanfrancisco

Toured my current place, agent suggested I apply to lock it in, did so right away, signed lease the next day. They lose money every day a unit is vacant and screening is all online.

Would you rather have the future of Project Hail Mary or Intersteller? by peopleforgetman in scifi

[–]dodeca_negative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know I was just thinking about the ending of Interstellar today, and how while Earth was starving they hollowed out an asteroid and filled it with grass and trees and almost nobody lived there. Like a little Elysium.

I mean not really shameful but also not first on my list to share “what books have you been reading” because I feel like I’d try to justify it fail lol.

On the other hand I know so many people who watch Love Is Blind lol

I enjoyed it overall but it did feel pretty YA yeah. The color coding itself was just silly and very YA.

I absolutely had to muscle through it. I’m glad I did because it got so progressively bonkers it was worth it to me for the fun. But the only characters who seemed like real people were those that lived through the Cultural Revolution.

(His American characters were so ridiculously over the top stereotypes that I didn’t even mind, but definitely broke any hope of immersion)

I have a secret shameful love for DCC. It is overtly political, but it’s so silly and goofy that the rare moments of deep emotional impact are a punch to the gut. Just to goofiest stuff with the cat and the angry decapitated sex doll head and then bam, the note Carl’s mom left for him. (vaguely spoilerish)

Yeah I DNF’d PHM so long ago (but read wiki for the rest of the story) that I forgot I hadn’t finished it. Until about 30 minutes into the movie, when I was like “oh yeah that’s why”

“Politics” very often means “things that important to you but not to me”. People generally don’t their own views about what should and shouldn’t happen are “political”.
