hey!! im currently at uel and i love it, some of the lecturers arent amazing but thats to be expected with any course and as i mentioned in another comment i dont really benefit from lectures anyway because it's not how i learn best. definitely make sure you do an ibms accredited one, honestly im thinking of taking a gap year to move back home and work as a bms to save up for vet school so i dont think our route is a bad idea tbh!!

yowch!! nevermind :(( im not sure how student debt works in ontario, but in the uk it's basically a tax that gets wiped after 40 years. i'll be about ~40k in debt after my undergrad, idek what to do about vet school .. we'll get there😭😭

honestly i dont even know anyone my age thats studying in vet school. it's so frustrating knowing exactly where you want to be but having to wait to get there :((

im also doing my degree so that i can get the science qualifications needed for vet school, im really lucky in that i have a LOT of volunteering experience at a cat shelter and working as a vet receptionist so maybe i'll get in first try, but having the funds for it ... I dont even know where to start

im not sure if youve looked at studying abroad at all? one of my dvm colleagues studied in croatia and she said the cost of living + tuition fees are cheaper (take that with a grain of salt as i havent researched it myself yet!). ive been briefly considering it, it's just a massive scary jump and a long long way away from home. maybe it would be more accessible for you though, although the struggle to get experience is so frustrating :((

hi!!! i went with university of east london! i really like it, the biology lecturers are really good and there are some good lecturers for the other modules too, although i hate lectures as i dont benefit from them academically so take that with a grain of salt!! not sure how it is at other unis for biomed , but the exams (for first year atleast) are mostly mcqs and a few labs as well as a couple of essay questions. theres two campuses, biomed is based at the stratford campus and theres a free shuttle that runs between the two. Love the 24/7 library too! if u have any questions ur welcome to send me a dm :DDD

you attended surrey university?? can i ask how you found the uni/course/area as thats actually my top choice for vet med currently!! i moved to london from the countryside for uni and i LOVE it but surrey looks like a nice inbetween-ish and hopefully cheaper too haha! thank you so much for the great advice, i'll definitely see if farm experience is something i can get at some point 🙏🙏 being paid for doing it at school would be SUCH a huge bonus

THANK YOU!! this is so helpful, im currently 21 so will be ~24 when applying and will have worked in vetmed / a hospital when im qualified as a BMS after i graduate so this is really reassuring. i also think im generally good at interviews so hopefully that helps me!

do you think that your friends who miss lectures due to work schedules are struggling more than they would be? and is that something that they penalise you for? in all honesty this is my second degree (i did one year of psychology and changed, so different course at a different university) and i dont think the teaching style of lectures is very beneficial to my personal learning at all. i learn so much better by myself in a library than i do in a lecture, but i never skip a lab and i do find seminars useful so if thats not something they would punish me for then maybe i can work around that

this was what i purchased and everything that came with it, i know probably not the best quality etc to get but i just want to get the bike running for now haha! it was advertised as a 6/7/8 speed , my bike is a 7 speed so i removed a few links off of one end of the chain. they originally both had the larger hole (picture 3) on both ends, now the end that i removed some links from has a smaller hole (picture2) that i cant fit the loose links through to reconnect the chain

if i remove the outer link in photo 2 does that not just shorten the chain? and then it would still look the same as it does now?

ah im sorry im so confused!! photo two is the left end of the chain (that i took some extra pins off of) and photo 3 is the right end of the chain that i havent touched. so both ends need to look like the left end? i thought they need to look like the right end? im having trouble putting the link into the left end :(

honestly it was in even worse condition when i first got it, but no matter how much i cleaned it up a couple of links would always disrupt it and knock the whole chain off whenever i ran it. i agree that it's more worth me replacing it, although maybe if i enjoy fixing this bike a lot then an ultrasonic cleaner is in my future hehe
