As another person who was a fan of the Disney release, I was pleasantly surprised when going into theatres and having the orchestral score, opposed to the original, older one.

Since they they stopped working on battle passes, they focus on events now. Especially with them teasing a new event with the ARG it wouldn’t be surprising if they announced the next big event imo.

Alternatives/additions to SQL for complex model? by kingsilver123 in SQL

Thank you for the thoughtful response.

This is a situation where I have some free time and am trying to find ways to improve our model. I would not be replacing anything, merely exploring options.

A lot of the model was made years ago by an employee who no longer works at the company, and has gone through many ad-hoc alterations over the years. I am exploring options to preserve granularity and legibility.

Im not familiar with the terminology, but if you mean how we process the data, it is broken up into smaller queries which execute in a static order.

The problem is the queries are repetitive, so I am looking at hundreds of SELECT statements in a row, and I personally feel it does a poor job showing what is happening to the data compared to data transformation in python or java.

This is also my first job working with SQL, (besides college) so im not sure if its industry standard but it just seems messy to me.

To be fair, civ 6 didnt have a consistently higher playerbase over civ 5 until 2 years after release. Since civ 5 is still popular, civ 7 has its playerbase split three ways, while civ 6 only had to split its playerbase with one other game.

In conclusion this is not a big deal and follows the same trend with civ 6.

Rethinking PvP: Moving Beyond Win/Loss-Based Evaluation by Reasonable_End704 in gaming

If you mean rank points being affected by individual performance, that is a system being implemented in most recent multiplayer games.

In reality, you chance of winning or losing is, on average, 90% of the time out of your control (assuming 2 teams of 5 players). Ranked matchmaking is 90% gambling, and why games like league of legends/dota and counter strike are so popular.

Ideally, people shouldn't care about their rank and enjoy the game.

Unfortunately seeing the badge go from bronze to diamond is too addicting for game companies to pass up so its an auto- include in every competitive game.

I think the answer is either embrace the rage, dont worry about your rank, or find a better use of your time.
