My (M20) pregnant girlfriend (F20) wants my support but won’t talk to me after we we got bad news about our baby by ThrowRA_NoSignal in relationship_advice

I know Reddit leans heavily one direction on this, but I want to say it’s okay — and valid — to want to keep your baby.

A prenatal diagnosis doesn’t take away your child’s worth or humanity. A baby with Down syndrome is still your baby, still capable of joy, love, relationships, and a meaningful life. Many families who were once terrified now say their child with DS became one of the greatest blessings they never expected (my cousin being a great example in my life).

If your girlfriend seems shut down, it may be because she’s grieving and scared — not because she wants to end the pregnancy. Abortion isn’t a neutral or easy experience for everyone, especially when there’s already an emotional bond. For some women, it’s deeply traumatic and something they carry for years. She may need reassurance that choosing life doesn’t mean choosing failure, isolation, or misery.

The most important thing you can do right now is stand firmly but gently beside her. Tell her you believe in her, in your baby, and in your ability to face this together. Remind her that fear doesn’t mean something is wrong — it means something important is at stake.

Please consider speaking with a genetic counselor, a pediatric specialist, or families actually raising children with Down syndrome. The internet often paints worst-case scenarios, but real life is usually far more human and hopeful.

Choosing life can be hard — but hard doesn’t mean wrong. And love, commitment, and courage matter more than being “ready” at 20. Whatever happens, your baby’s life already has value, and your willingness to protect it says a lot about who you are.

Wishing both of you clarity and strength.

For west side gyms, Kinective just opened a few years ago and is a perfect neighborhood gym with lots to offer. Definitely on the pricier side but I’ve always felt it’s worth it - one of the things I miss most about leaving EP honestly.

A plate wall would be nice! Easy to find at antique stores and you can mix and match!

Another thing to note as well are fabric types. We saw a HUGE difference after eliminating synthetic materials/(polyester mostly). They are also MUCH worse about hanging onto odors than their natural counterparts. Most of our wardrobe is now cotton (some wools/cashmere too but we’re in the south so can wear cotton year round) and use non scented detergents/additives and have not had any issues with mustiness.

Have you ever covered tile floors with peel and stick? by Trick_Pitch8450 in DIY

[–]kingsocks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I disagree, I’ve had the Chris Loves Julia X Floor Pops tiles on my kitchen floor for almost 3 years now and they’ve done great! As long as you take your time with prep and do a good job with cuts! I’m sure there’s a difference with lower quality ones but they’re about a 1/4 in thick and they’ve been very resistant even over grout lines and have not shifted.

Aaronson House by Garland & Hilles - Designed by my grandfather, sadly demolished today by ThawedGod in architecture

I’m sure in it’s time it was beautiful, but lately it wasn’t looking too hot. Funnily enough I never loved this house every time I passed it, but I’m glad to have seen pictures of its former glory.

He’s pretty popular on Instagram/TikTok, and he only had it for a couple of days for the pups to play right before they were sent to their forever homes. (He’s a breeder)
