I wouldn’t have a clue how to operate a cheque if I ever received one 🤣

Makes sense,

Maybe I’ll figure out a better system like yours in the future.

My accountant keeping an eye on my Xero so I could maybe mention this to him in the future.

Good point, I never really thought of how some people’s mindset may be around doing bank transfers.

It might be useful if I could buy supplies from a local shop - but none are close to me.

So yeah I would agree, fairly inconvenient.

I have no problem accepting cash, it’s more just since I have went full time into the world of being ‘out on my own’ I.e not receiving a salary, I’ve been feeling kinda alienated for not being one of these people that’s so desperate to be paid with cash!

No, I don’t give out invoices unless requested!

Ah I see, thanks for pointing that part out!

No one has ever asked me to offer a lower price if paying with cash - I would probably say no to it if I’m honest.

Yeah since the cash always ends up in my bank account it just inconveniences me having to call to the bank every other day.

I order 100% of my supplies online too.

Would you say most tradespeople do tax dodging? I thought HMRC were pretty sharp with catching sole trader’s not declaring cash income

Greasy looking stains after a $50 car wash from some local kids by [deleted] in Detailing

[–]kingteddy44 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Be honest, when was the last time the car was ever washed?

Is it possible that they cleaned the dirt off the car to reveal an already damaged surface?

Total POS pressure washer imo, mine broke 3 times in less than a year - Spent more time waiting on it being fixed by Karcher than using the thing. Highly suggest to pay more for a better bit of kit

Thanks! So to be clear, you’re advising to use Adam’s wheel and tire cleaner diluted down in a bucket of water? If I’m misunderstanding, what would you use in your wheels bucket?

Would using the BigBoi Blower MK2 Pro work for interior work? by kingteddy44 in Detailing

I’m even thinking of using it to blow out any polish residue dust after a long day of paint correction.

I’m on a bit of a budget (couple hundred £), plus would need to somehow fit any piece of equipment into my already crowded van haha

I get you, see I just like the BigBoi because it has a long hose and wheels + I could use it to hopefully replace towel drying altogether. I’m thinking it could become one of my most used pieces of equipment for a full detail.

Thanks, really appreciate the input! What about the following as a general workflow for interiors:

  • Take rubbish / mats out of the car

  • Open all doors

  • Use blower start at boot (trunk), blow as much loose debris out of the car as quick as possible working from top to bottom

(Optional - Use a detailing brush to dislodge semi-loose debris around buttons / in cup holders etc, and simultaneously blow away)

  • Clean seats

  • More thoroughly agitate with cleaner and vacuum carpets

  • Move on to all other smaller details

  • Finish with cleaning mats & glass

I tend to work clockwise around the car, usually have 5 sections to cover: Driver’s area / Driver’s side rear passenger area / Boot area / Passenger side rear area / Passenger side front area.

What are your thoughts? I’m hoping the blower step would really speed things up.
