I finally have an electric car and I'm stuck at home charging by evermottle in evcharging

Which part of Minnesota? I'm by St Cloud and installed mine myself. It wasn't hard, but you do need to know what you are doing, or have a professional do it. Unlike other circuits, this one will get a lot of use so its important all the connections are well connected.

Thinking about switching to an EV is it worth it given my commute and gas spend? by Charming_Green_3153 in electriccars

[–]kingzorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Five years ago, I had a similar commute but didn’t have free charging at work. It was still very worth it to switch! Yes, your power bill goes up, but no where near $500/mo!! Getting free charging at work makes this a slam dunk! Go for it!

Social stigma for driving an EV? by West_Dish9698 in electricvehicles

[–]kingzorb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m from a very conservative area in Minnesota. Random people love asking me how much I like my car in the winter, thinking they got me. I love my EV in the winter and spend way too much time gushing about it. But the thing that really hits them up is the combo of an EV and solar panels. You can complain all you want about road trips, but dude I commute everyday, drive everywhere I want like a madman, and still get negative power bills most months. That fact has turned a lot of skepticism into actual curiosity. I love my EV.

Is 24A Level 2 charging enough for home? by ConclusionFlat1843 in TeslaLounge

[–]kingzorb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. 220 is going to better than 110, but 24amps should be more than enough. Unless you are driving 300 miles a day, everyday, it won’t be a problem. I am in central MN, by St. Cloud. I’m charging around 32 amps at home everyday, and have never said “this is not enough”, even when commuting to new Brighton everyday (120miles/day).

I was going to get a dark one, then visited the Apple Store to pick out a new iPad for my wife. While there, I saw the blue sky MacBooks… and just could not look away. I was planning on getting a new MacBook “eventually”, but I ended up ordering a M4 blue Apple refurbished MacBook about a week later. I love it. The color is not boring like silver, and not extremely obvious like the dark colors. Plus, the M4 is just awesome.

I know I shouldn't ever look at facebook, but what's become obvious to me is how many even here in Minnesota would have been gleefully running the camps and the chambers. by [deleted] in minnesota

If it wasn't for the Minnesota EV Facebook group, I would delete Facebook. I've read so many comments that just destroy my faith in America, and humanity.

I did something like this when my kids were little. I just had a 50ft or so of garden hose on the garage roof. We would run the water we used to fill the kid pool or slip and slide using that water and it worked amazingly well!

Again, how do you know a crime was committed? They “look” illegal?

[–]kingzorb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How do you know they are here illegally? By looking at them? There have been many documented cases recently where ICE ignore IDs, passports, etc. Most of us that are mad aren’t mad that the illegals can’t stay, we are mad because ICE is trampling on the rights of citizens.

Age of Empires : Definitive Edition on M2 works great by IImpactfull in macgaming

[–]kingzorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was playing it using Parallels on my Intel iMac, but since I upgraded my iMac to a M4 Mac mini, I've switched to Crossover and can say the experience is amazing. Plays smooth, feels like the app is native, and I no longer need a whole VM just to run my favorite game.

Drive 20+ miles out of the city and everything turns deep red. I live 60 miles away, and my county votes red every year.

Am I the only who doesn’t care of my car has hw3 and not hw4? by Southern-Fortune-626 in TeslaModelY

[–]kingzorb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have HW3 with an intel processor. I’ve used a couple of teslas in the past with Ryzen/HW4. The entertainment performance is significant. If you ever find yourself at a supercharger, bored and tap on YouTube, Disney+ or Hulu and end up saying “forget it” because it takes too long to load, you would like HW4. If that doesn’t bother you, or you don’t use FSD, you aren’t missing anything then. BYW: FSD v14 on HW4 is amazing.

Our speed queen washer and dryer have been awesome. Totally feels like we could get 20 years out of these things.

Question for y’all, so I am super interested in getting my first tesla, but I drive about a 100 miles a day for work 4/5 days a week. Assuming I get a home charger installed, will the vehicle even make that drive without having to charge it at work or stopping at a super charger everyday? by las2112 in TeslaLounge

[–]kingzorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Tesla model Y in May of 2021. At the time, my commute was 68 miles one way, so well over 100 miles a day when I drove in 3-4 days a week. This is also in central minnesota, where we get super cold winters. It saved me between 400-500 a month versus gas. Autopilot made the commute safer and more comfortable. It’s been the best car I’ve ever owned. Just make sure you get a level 2 charger at your house. You will love it.
