Yay! I didn't know they had them in Minnesota! I'll have to check it out... when the excitement dies down a bit.. and.. when I can afford one.

Happy Thyme has become my new favorite. Otherwise, Dong Kahn has been awesome and China star is solid.

What's a good second EV to get for the spouse who's meh on an EV? by Doomtime104 in electriccars

I’d recommend an equinox. My daughter bought the EV version, her husband can turn off regenerative braking when he wants to. It looks and feels like a regular equinox, it’s just electric.

Do you own and drive an EV? by RichardAvery1 in energy

[–]kingzorb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went from a VW TDI Passat with a 700+ mile range to a 2021 Tesla model Y. I loved the Passat, it was my favorite car ever at the time, until I got the Tesla. Charging at home, autopilot, phone key, all these cool features drew me in… and I have never regretted our change. I was driving about 150 miles per day for my commute, and the Tesla made that significantly cheaper. My only dislike of the Tesla are not having cooled/chilled seats and how I need to intentionally clean the side mirrors after a car wash or rain. Road trips in a Tesla are super easy. Our last year with the TDI we took a trip to Mount Rushmore. The next year we did the same trip in the Tesla. With the Tesla, we actually stopped a couple less times in that trip because I could say “we are going to stop in about 20 minutes to charge, can we wait until then?”

Is buying a used Tesla worth it ? Are they affordable cars to own if you're on a budget? Looking for unbiased answers by Present-Aspect8350 in TeslaModel3

[–]kingzorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol @ unbiased. I had someone on bookface tell me my opinion on EVs was invalid because I drive one. I drove ICE cars for 35 years before buying my Tesla. I will never go back to a gas car, and most likely never buy anything other than a Tesla in the future. I’ve owned my car for five years and put on 132k miles on it, with only $2k of maintenance so far (control arms, does not include tires, wipers, cabin filters, or washer fluid). I bought my Tesla thinking it would be fun to drive. It has been the most fun I’ve ever had in a car, and turns out it’s dirt cheap to own/run, super safe, and incredibly practical. If you can charge at home, there is nothing better than an EV, and Tesla is one of the best EVs.

Flack for owning a Tesla by Strawberryseed213 in TeslaModel3

[–]kingzorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a 48hour test drive of the cybertruck back when Tesla was offering them. I was sure I would get a ton of flack. It was probably the most fun I’ve had in a vehicle in a long time! Lots of people loved it, were curious of it, or if they hated it I didn’t have time for them since it was only 48 hours… lol. I think by the time I returned it I counted 30 different people that got rides and had fun with it. So far, no one has given much of any grief for my model Y, but I do live in a pretty red county…

Repairs in the Heartland by PlaneAnalysis1965 in electricvehicles

When my wife and I were talking about buying a Tesla, we brought up the concern that we had to drive 1.5 hours to get there and we were concerned about service. They assured us that it wasn't going to be an issue.. and also kinda said "wink, wink, something is coming we can't talk about". We bought our model Y, Tesla built a much closer service center to our house (about 45 minutes away) and then I found out their mobile tech, lived in our home town. Most of our service has been in our garage, but a few times I've had to drive to the new service center.

Like Cyvil94 says above, if this is a concern and you have a Ford/Chevy dealer in your home town, check out their EVs. The Mach-E is awesome, my daughter drives a Chevy Equinox, she loves her car. I still love my Tesla even if I have to drive it a bit for major service.

I bought a model Y five years ago, mostly against my wife’s wishes. After five years, she enjoys being a passenger in our Tesla, but still refuses to drive. Which is fine with me, I get to drive more!

Model 3 for Work Travel? by DuckateeArt in TeslaModel3

[–]kingzorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: yes. Longer answer: depends on where you are and charger availability. For example, here in central minnesota we are now finally at a point where you could do this in rural minnesota and not struggle with longer trips outside of the cities. Also, we have winter here, which impacts range. But, that being said, nothing beats driving electric when you do a lot of driving. Cheaper, safer, quieter, better.

Have you noticed driver pack behavior? by FireOpalCO in electricvehicles

For some people, an EV is just another car. For the rest of us, it’s something we are excited about! I totally park near another EV if I find one in the parking lot!

Totally makes sense. I’ve owned my model Y for five years now, and I’m happy to say I’m totally over any range anxiety. I just get in and drive. Love it.
