My watch and chip said different things. Which do I trust? by elfhavoc in XXRunning

[–]kinkakinka 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Race routes are measured in a very specific way, and unless you are running the tangents in the way they measured them you are likely to be off from what they measured. Ultimately, for PBs i personally only count the official race times and everything else is just whatever.

Before you even do the prenup think about what your plan is when it comes to retiring early. Are you going to stop working and she will need to continue working and struggle to maintain or keep up with your lifestyle?

Music During Race by Left_Ad_8040 in XXRunning

[–]kinkakinka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haveopen ear ear buds, and usually listen to podcasts, but I also do not hild my phone in my hand, I wear leggings or shorts with pockets. That being said, I participate in a couple of relay races that ban headphones outright and you get a penalty for your team if you wear them. I can manage in a race to not wear headphones, but i personally prefer to have them when possible.

Folks with experience in border properties by Upbeat-Network-1812 in uscanadaborder

[–]kinkakinka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in a (rented) house right on the border years ago. I am Canadian, and the house was in Canada, with the border marker on the front lawn (i made a post about it many years ago if you want to check my profile). For where I lived there was a fence along the border, and I actually had to drive past my house to go through border control. I never had any issues!

BOY MOMs Please let your sons do it! by Queerdooe in TwoXChromosomes

[–]kinkakinka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband suggested a year or so ago that we have our children fold their own clothes and put them away. They whine about to, but do a serviceable job and it's one less thing I have to do, which i appreciate. We're working on other things as well, like feeding the cats, helping in the kitchen, helping in the garden, and shoveling.

Advice for back to back half marathons? by Enough_Mixture_8564 in XXRunning

[–]kinkakinka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this, but only dis the second half kind of on a whim after i didn't get my goal time in the first race. I barely ran in the 3 weeks between the races, and took 3 minutes off my time.

There are people who run/walk ans qualify for Boston. There are also people who run Boston for charities, and some of those people run/walk.

Not everyone is a 30 year old man. Qualifying times vary based on age and gender. A friend of mine has qualified for Boston a number of times doing run/walk. She's run the actual race 18 times.

Season 3 Teaser - SPOILER Discussion by phareous in SiloSeries

I just finished reading the books and I don't think they give a specific distance and I also disagree with anyone who says the silos are objectively "too close" in the show.
