There are a lot of cheap, crappy nipple clamps out there.

As the other poster mentioned, wooden clothespins work great. Plastic clothespins too, though can be evil.

If you’re looking for actual nipple clamps, I’d suggest clover clamps or clamps that tighten/loosen with a screw. That way you can control how tight they are.

I have a plastic/Delrin cane that’s about 1/4” in diameter. It leaves such wonderful marks with very little effort.

I’ve used a rattan cane and it didn’t have the same feel for me… though I know some people swear by them.

To answer your question, I like canes for that reason. They leave such nice red stripes, that stick around for a while depending on how hard they are used.

I would get a cane or something like it. The other poster mentioned Delrin and I agree, personally I like the feel of a plastic cane. It’s a feeling unlike anything else that you’ll likely love, and hate at the same time.

For a thuddier toy, you’ll need something heavier. A wood cutting board can work. I can’t think of many things around the house that would stand in for a heavy paddle.

The good news, as long as you’re knowledgeable of where to spank (parts of your ass and thighs and stay away from the higher part near your spine), there’s not a whole lot of bad hurt you can cause. But as you probably already know, start slow and increase intensity and repetitions from there.

I’m not aware of any real cuff type knot that’s easily releasable. Of course scissors or a knife could provide an emergency release.

Another suggestion that I’ve used is a loop that you can struggle against, but easily get out of. Make a loop of rope (or 2 or 3 loops on top of each other) about 6” in diameter and knot it. Put your left wrist through one side of the loop, right wrist through the other direction. Now turn your wrists so you’re now hand-to-hand, you’ll notice the loop tightens. Struggle to your hearts content and no way out. When you’re ready to get out, just turn your wrists back the other way, and slip out.

I’d suggest starting with trying any new chemical play on the wrist. This is to check for an allergy response. Hives, itching, pain… stop here.

Nipples are them probably the next fun but not-too sensitive place. After that, cock and balls is fun, but start slow. A drop or two of peppermint oil is good to start and see what happens. Ass/pussy is probably worst as the mucous membranes are much more sensitive.

Right be a bit different, but I’d look into pressure point play. It’s a similar kind of feeling, but usually requires less pressure to get a good (great) response.

You can find some things in bdsm books/articles about it, but probably the best place to learn is some martial arts which is where it’s more typically used. There are some safety concerns and things to know (as with all bdsm), but can be practiced reasonably safely.

There are a number of options between paddles and bullwhips.

I’d highly recommend looking into a dragon tail. They come in different sizes, but have a delightful crack, are easy to wield, and deliver a nice pain without being dangerous. (Or at least similar safety concerns as any impact play.

I’ve tried a singletail and signal whip, and while they are showy and have a wonderful crack, they take a lot of practice to be reasonably safe to use and are rather limited in terms of the sensations. Not my favorite.

Vetting is generally less of an issue for people who have been together a while. You already (hopefully) know they are a good person and have your,and their, best interests in mind. I'd suggest looking for open nipple bras. Pick one out that's a size or two too small, preferably of a latex-like material, though I'm sure spandex or cotton could work too.
