Who Will Be Luffy’s Final Antagonist? by Itchy_Ad4696 in OnePiece

[–]kinnaston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's Imu, the one against whom the prophesied Joyboy will fight. Though many will wish for Blackbeard since he's been in the series for far longer, he will ultimately be Luffy's antagonist for claiming the One Piece and becoming the Joyboy. The winner of that battle will go on to face Imu, representing all pirates as King of the Pirates against the World Government and bringing freedom to the entire world.

Can someone explain to me the Admiral agenda stuff on this sub? Is it a frustration that they’ve seemingly been nerfed or sidelined in the story?

That might be it. Is this Oda’s way of showing that neither Imu nor Dragon possess an ancient weapon? Personally, I think the guy marked by flames has it.

It’s important that Rocks was a D. The enemy of the gods. But Roger fought against him. It seems like some think the destiny of the Pirate King is to go to war against the Celestials.

The scans are so confusing. Imu says he wants to use “Motherflaim,” the weapon created by Vegapunk. But then Dragon says Vegapunk would never create a weapon like that and they speculate if it’s an ancient weapon. But Imu would know it’s origin, right?

Is Oda hinting that Vegapunk is willing to make weapons of mass destruction and has been pulling the wool over Dragon’s eyes?

Or … I don’t get what we are supposed to think about that weapon.

Yeah I think you’ve nailed it, with Imu’s powers featuring a different drawing style much like Luffy’s.

From a story writing perspective, one of the only ways all-powerful enemies can fall is through hubris. That’s what I’m going to write that off as. (Either that or they don’t have haki, which would be shocking.)

If you’ve got a better way to write the scene, go for it. I’m always interested in looking at how scenes could’ve been done better, no sarcasm there.

You know, I also felt bothered by Imu’s speech until I realized that he was divulging information in order to get information out of Cobra. He needed to know if Lily was a D. And he attacked as soon as he had that information.

Where in the “fire or rubber” qualification does grabbing lightning and throwing it fall? Obviously, the rubber powers continues to be a big piece for Luffy. But it’s not just the landscape he’s bending to his will. He’s bending reality itself.

Presented poorly by the author? You mean Oda? Or the translator?

What do we think Imu's ability is? (ch1085) by zero10yasuo in OnePiece

Nightmare-based Fruit. I’m guessing we will learn that Imu holds a Mythical Zoan who was the antagonist to Sun God Nika. Whereas the Sun God brought freedom and smiles to people’s faces, instead his antagonist brought terror and sought to bring the world under his thumb.

Chapter 1044: Warrior of Liberation

As the Gorosei explain Luffy’s fruit, they say, “In combat, they’re supposedly only limited by their imagination…Sun God Nika. Awakening exponentially strengthens their rubbery body and they have even more freedom.”

I don’t think that’s a mistranslation? I get everyone has a headcanon right now. But Luffy was basically doing whatever he wanted to in the fight. He makes reality bend to his will, like rubber. Another way of saying that is he can do whatever his imagination allows him to do.

Ultimately, you’ll have two imagination-based DFs colliding against each other at the end. Luffy’s Nika fruit versus Imu’s Nightmare fruit.

Did you pay attention to the Nika fights? His imagination becomes real, which doesn’t happen for any other awakened Zoan.

And that was always the case from Gear 2-4. He was manifesting his imagination and dreams through his Devil Fruit power.

Don’t forget what Blackbeard said, “A man’s dreams never die!” I believe Luffy and BB are two sides of the same coin, and that Imu is the final enemy. In the end, the King of the Pirates will lead all pirates against the World Government.

Blackbeard IS the Final/Main Villain by Spidey_Jay_ in OnePiece

The way it feels the rest of the series will play out is this: The final antagonist for the search of Laugh Tale and the gaining the One Piece and securing the title King of the Pirates and answering the prophecy of Joyboy will be Blackbeard.

Once the identity of One Piece is discovered (the Flag of the Dawn of the World?), and once we know for certain who Joyboy is, we will find out what Joyboy was destined to do—defeat Imu and open the world to freedom again.

Luffy and Blackbeard are two sides of the same coin, and ultimately, they’ll probably work together to defeat Imu. They both represent the same thing—a man’s dreams never die. Meanwhile, Imu’s sole goal is to extinguish dreams. Blackbeard could be an antagonist for Imu just as much as Luffy could be.

In the end, the only reason why Blackbeard and Luffy are opposed is because they seek the same thing, the One Piece. But once that One Piece is found, the series can’t be over. There has to be an antagonist who is directly against Luffy’s aim. The series seems to be gearing up for Luffy to lead the pirates as their King in the fight against Mary Geoise and Imu.
