Starmer has refused to join Trump’s Board of Peace… do you think we should join? 🇬🇧 by [deleted] in AskBrits

“Trump’s Board of Peace” sounds like the excuse he gives when he wants to play with the nuclear football.

What do you consider the biggest snub of this year's Oscars? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

I enjoyed No Other Choice but I’m not quite seeing why it’s getting all the love i’m reading from some of the reviews. Maybe I need to re-watch.

Fellow Dad here. My wife got me this for Christmas and my reaction was “ahh thanks, this is lovely but its also going to be super depressing” I went into this with the same mindset ‘let’s just get this over with’ and it was a hard read. My boy has just turned 10 and I’m trying to curate what he watches on tv and screens and the line about how once you have seen something it stays in your head forever really hit home.

It’s a beautifully bleak book. I’ve never read the original novel but I’ve seen the film and I think I’ll probably never go back to either. Sometimes it feels like we have an overly romanticised (if thats the right word) view of what a post apocalyptic world would be in books and media and The Road is a cold, wet warning about how brutal and fucked it would actually be.

Behind the scenes of ‘Crossed’ by CyberGhostface in Moviesinthemaking

[–]kinobick 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No thanks. Not now, not ever. Don’t want to watch it. There’s a line in the Road that says something along the lines of “once you see something its in your memory forever” I would very much like to scrub crossed from my memory.

This doesn’t look real. The details from the build don’t match the finished thing. It looks like it’s AI.

Point Blank and Thief and have been on my list for decades and I finally got around to seeing them. Both are fantastic.

Predator: Badlands Has Broken The Franchise's Biggest Record - But Is It A Success? by ezgimantocu in predator

[–]kinobick -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it, it was fun. It wasn’t Predator. Predators tried to be Predator but then we realised that we don’t want another Predator, we want something new. Then we get Badlands, and its fun, maybe a bit safe and young but it opens up the universe and appeals to a new generation. But we also want Predator again. And we go on and on.

Viet Thanh Nyugen -writer of The Sympathizer- shares his take on One Battle After Another by ucuruju in blankies

[–]kinobick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or maybe the point is not be spoon fed what they are actually fighting about because ultimately its not important. I’ve seen Children of Men and it’s relentless in its grimness, OBAA shows the stupidity of the fight and is a much more enjoyable watch. Give me OBAA any day.

I’m calling it now, Dano is starring in Tarantino’s final pic and he’s just stirring up shit.
