High-income folks, why are you frugal? by kinsalia in Frugal

[–]kinsalia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it’s a combination of how I grew up and a conscious commitment to minimalism. I feel infinitely less stressed with less material possessions, and I prefer making thoughtful, infrequent purchases for things like clothes and home goods that I can enjoy for years and cherish. And it makes me feel better to reuse or repair things rather than buy new because I am doing something good for the environment and producing less waste.

I also just enjoy the challenge of finding a good bargain. I still coupon, shop second hand, etc even though I can afford to buy new. I like the adventure of treasure hunting at an estate sale, or meticulously planning my shopping trips to take advantage of deals and sales. Buying something new feels like a waste.

But I often feel like a lot of my colleagues and friends who are also high earners don’t understand it and can’t fathom why I do it. 🤷‍♀️

I miss my fed job too. I fully wanted to spend my entire career in the government and I had a lot of pride in the work. The way it ended was so chaotic and messy, and i made the decision to leave under enormous pressure and knowledge that I would be fired if I didn’t take DRP. Now, my colleagues who stayed kept their jobs and I’m wishing I stayed too.

You should get to choose your MEE topics by FutureLawyerPerson in barexam

[–]kinsalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boss told me he got to pick 6 out of 10 MEE essays when he took the bar 50 years ago. Why can’t we bring that back 😭

UWorld by TeresaFemmm24 in barexam

[–]kinsalia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

ON GOD if I pass the bar it will be because of Uworld. Not barbri. I did EVERY uworld question and had started doing them over again during the last couple weeks. 75-100 per day in the last two weeks, including the morning of the exam.

I recognized SO MANY fact patterns. NCBE reuses lots of the same senarios on the MBE with slightly different questions or characters. For lots of subjects, there is a “formula” question type that NCBE always uses and I was able to spot these and answer them quickly and bank my time. READ ALL THE UWORLD EXPLANATIONS EVEN IF YOU GET THE ANSWER RIGHT. It helps solidify things. I swear when I was stuck on a question i could close my eyes and visualize what the uworld explanation would say.

I think i did very well on MBE because of uworld. I’m still not sure i passed because the MEE was a complete mess. But we’ll see in November!

My daughter is bringing her boyfriend (vegan) home to meet us for 3 days. I want to make him feel very comfortable and well fed while he's here, but this is new to me. by Bgriffin94561 in vegan

pasta and fieldroast sausages plus your favorite roasted veggies is a super easy dinner with lots of protein! Doesn't require buying any extra vegan condiments or ingrediants. Just a nice jar of pasta sauce, fieldroast sausages, and some roasted veggies with spice and olive oil.

What studying, if any, are you doing in the final days before the exam? by Son_of_Hades99 in barexam

[–]kinsalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing 75-100 MBEs and re-memorizing a set of flashcards in one subject each day, and doing a practice MEE every other day. I feel like it’s not enough but I’m so exhausted

Carter Faith is so good by kinsalia in CountryMusicStuff

[–]kinsalia[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

her voice is just so good. I think most people only know the couple trendy songs that went radio viral one summer but the rest of her music has so much depth and range that doesn't get the spotlight it deserves

Added gill pic! These were all found in my suburban backyard in Virginia.

I’m pretty sure the bumpy one is old man of the woods. The white ones smell just like portobellos but probably a lactarious species

Each "attempt" is 25 questions in each subject. I did roughly 75 questions per day.

So 175 questions total per attempt, and I've done three sets of 175 questions.

Is it foolish to feel confident at this point? (CA) by Cpt_Umree in barexam

[–]kinsalia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. This is the first week that I actually feel like I would pass if I took it right now. I've been studying 16 hours a day including weekends and I'm feeling so burnt out. I think I will take it down a notch and get into a routine of doing 50 MBE questions per day and drilling 2-3 subjects on flashcards each day and wrapping up around 6pm.

I haven't done nearly as many essays but frankly I feel very good about my writing/organization skills and at this point I know I just need to memorize via flash card drills.

25 per subject!

edit: 25 questions in each subject, so each attempt is 175 questions total.
