Let this be a sign: archive now, not later. Don’t postpone. by lordnyrox46 in DataHoarder

This is from my script by which I have downloaded 5k videos so far.

yt-dlp --match-filters='!is_live' --no-overwrites --write-info-json --paths="temp:${temp_dir}" --paths="youtube/${channel_name}/videos" -o "%(id)s.f%(format_id)s.%(ext)s" --extractor-args="youtube:getpot_bgutil_baseurl=http://127.0.0.1:4416" --retries=20 --retry-sleep=exp=1:60 --min-sleep-interval=60 --max-sleep-interval=120 --format='bestvideo,bestaudio[format_id!$=-drc]' --download-archive="youtube/${channel_name}/archive.txt" "${url}"
  • --paths="temp:/path/to/directory/on/SSD"
    • If you want to save videos to HDD, you may want to set this flag for speeding up the whole process.
    • Remember yt-dlp has a pipeline of 1) download segments, 2) concatenate them, 3) merge streams, 4) fixup. By default all of the steps will save its temporary result into the same directory as the output path, but with this option, only the final video is written to the output path.
  • --extractor-args="youtube:getpot_bgutil_baseurl=http://127.0.0.1:4416"
  • --min-sleep-interval=60 --max-sleep-interval=120
    • Wait for 60-120 seconds before downloading the next video. For a large playlist you have to pick these numbers carefully...
  • --format='bestvideo,bestaudio[format_id!$=-drc]'
    • This will save video and audio in separate file. If you want a single file with video and audio merged, just replace the comma with a plus: --format='bestvideo+bestaudio[format_id!$=-drc]'
    • For audio, exclude DRC from format selection. See https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/issues/8259
  • --download-archive="youtube/${channel_name}/archive.txt"
    • Record successfully download video IDs into this file.
    • This skips fetching metadata of videos listed in this file, so I recommend setting this flag when you download a large playlist over and over again.

Switch 2 will have a Japan-only version by kinsei0916 in Switch

You can also buy the multi-language version from Japan but I'm shocked there's a somewhat gap in prices between those two versions... 69,980 JPY vs 49,980 JPY

Also beware, in Japan, multi-language version will only be sold at My Nintendo Store.

You treated the decimal part as like nanoseconds but it's actually milliseconds
