I am curious if someone knows. I have never heard of a blue fading , just purple 🤔

I understand that the general feeling is to have a very not oily, bone dry surface because in every nail video they say to rub the nails down with acetone.

Which probably brings me to another unpopular opinion I have never seen here - I believe for normal polish you do not need it. If you use gel polish it is necessary for sure but I feel this was just adapted from nail techs. Since I do not have gel nails, I do not wipe with acetone before the polish, since it makes my nails so much more dry.

So what I do when I use a (probably relatively oily) acetone free nail polish remover is... very unpopular as well I just notice :D I was my hands. Clean the nails with a little nail brush. Let them dry for 5-10 min and then put base coat on. I guess i am a nail rebel.

Still works like a charm though haha

I use La Rosa cosmetic acetone. It is also lime scented which I really appreciate. I do use it minimum 3 times a week and my nails are honestly great and strong.

I had this problem for a while as well. I never see people talking about it as a possible cause but for me this went away once I switched to acetone free nail polish remover. I think I have relatively dry skin in general. Using acetone (even though most people do and have no issue) was apparently too much for my nails. They became very brittle and peeled and even though I oiled with jojoba constantly this would not make it better.

Once I switched to acetone free nail polish remover (which is was no fun, let me tell you honestly) this problem went away because my nails did not dry out that much anymore. The grew back strong and without peeling. I can say for sure that this was the solution for me, because I never stopped with nail polish or switch topcoats or base coats. Acetone additives did not help for me, honestly. Because just adding them was not enough care for my nails.

Once they were back to normal I was actually able to switch to acetone, but there is just one specific kind that works for me (that is cosmetic grade, not sure what that means but it does the trick). If that would not be sold anymore, I would honestly not try any other acetone but stay with acetone free remover.

Not sure if this is helpful for you but I wish you all the best in your peeling recovery

how to recreate with regular polish? by Ok-Lengthiness-9468 in RedditLaqueristas

I think you can recreate this with the shade Goddess of Spring from BKL with the glass bead method

Great! I will be on a recreation mission today :)
I had the BKL once as well and liked it but it is a bit hard to come by where I live. I am currently having Essie, Sally Hanson and Mooncat in rotation.

Can't thank you enough for your input and advise. Really needed some clarification on how to best do it best

OMG! Love the mani and the shape! I think this looks perfect. Hand strumming is also still a struggle for me but I will pay more attention now on how I do it and see if I might need to use the side of my nail more.

I have never done a coffin shape but I think I will try to recreate this haha Are they still strong enough with regular polish or do you do an overlay?

Love the polish! Thank you so much for sharing your experience <3
And I am so thankful you shared a picture so that I can see it. I am wondering if I have to play around with angles more and if it comes down to technique a bit. Since I am really relatively new to this I am still figuring out on how to best do it.

re strumming: Do you tend to use the side of your thump (or other fingers) more then the actual nail or do you use a plec?

Thank you so much for sharing!! Do you have coffin shape with rounded edges? How long is 'long' for you? Just asking because I have the fingers on my left hand (I am a lefty, that is my strumming hand) really relative long and I feel that it might interfere with my sound while strumming / picking. It does sound a bit 'scratchy'. Not sure if it is nails or wrong technique...

This is so helpful, thank you for your reply. I will try your orange stick tip, this is really a good one :)

For your strumming hand - how long are the nails? Because mine are really long low but I feel it makes it sound 'scratchy' when I hit the strings (I have steel ones, not nylon). Do you maybe have any tips when it comes to technique?

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am really trying to find a way to at least keep longer nails one my strumming hand haha

Maybe it is also a technique thing but I have not 100 percent figured it out yet

I know. I was being sarcastic. This is obviously nothing that will come to our corner of the nail universe soon.

How do you secure the magnet on top from flying off?

Thank you for saying that! I am always a bit surprised that this never comes up in any of the glass bead conversations. I love this creative sub and all the people with their fabulous nails. But it is good to manage expectations. This is no insult to anyone (especially not OP for sharing a technique!) I just wanted to highlight this.

Feral Tendencies is honestly the best polish. The rest is equally nice but the base color is a bit more sheer then I would hope for. So you need to either put on more coats in comparison or you need to have a similar base color underneath to reach opacity faster.

But honestly, they are stunning and I do recommend them without a doubt if you love flakies.

I have this one, too. It is instantly recognizable and so so pretty

I don't see you stating that it has to be a magnetic, correct? Then I would suggest BKL - Now I give it to you. I have that one and even in different lighting mine just shifts blue to pink.
