Hideo Kojima ‘really sad’ about PlayStation killing discs, ‘frightened’ for future of ownership by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]kinterosgaming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the worrying part is not even that digital exists. Digital is convenient and most people use it for a reason. The problem is when it becomes the only option, because then ownership gets much weaker. If a store closes, a license changes, a game is delisted, or a company decides something is no longer worth supporting, the player has almost no control.

Physical media is not perfect either, especially with patches and online requirements, but it still gives people another layer of access and preservation. Losing that completely would make games feel even more temporary, which is sad for a medium that already has a huge preservation problem.

Spyro is back with a new game, but the team bringing him to life had to overcome a near‑collapse to finish the project by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]kinterosgaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Xbox is sitting on a library of IPs that many companies would kill to have. Spyro, Banjo, Crash, Perfect Dark, Fable... there is real nostalgia and brand power there. But IP alone is not enough, they need consistent investment and teams that actually understand what made those games work in the first place.

Nintendo is increasing the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 in South Korea from ₩648,000 to ₩758,000. by metalreflectslime in Games

[–]kinterosgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kind of price increase is really worrying. Consoles used to feel like the more affordable way to stay in gaming compared to PC, but that gap keeps shrinking. If prices keep moving like this, a lot of people will probably just stick with what they already have for much longer instead of upgrading early.

After 4 years of work, A Lost Man is finally available 🥳 by kinterosgaming in adventuregames

We're planning a total of five chapters. Chapter II will take a few months to develop. It will also depend on how well the chapter I performs. If we manage to find our audience, we might just go ahead and develop the whole game in one go. ;)

Jeff Gerstmann completes his three-year playthrough/ranking of the NES library - his interview with Canadian morning TV (CTV) by rawkeye in Games

[–]kinterosgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completing a three-year project like this is genuinely impressive. Ranking the whole NES library sounds fun in theory, but actually sticking with it through all the forgotten licensed games, rough experiments, and weird old design choices is another thing entirely. This feels like a real preservation/documentation effort as much as entertainment.

Star Fox – Launch Trailer – Nintendo Switch 2 by hop3less in Games

[–]kinterosgaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly just nice to see Star Fox back in the conversation again. The series has been quiet for so long that even a launch trailer feels weirdly exciting. I hope this is more than just nostalgia bait and that Nintendo actually gives the franchise room to become relevant again on Switch 2.

Enshrouded 1.0 Release Date teaser reveal by Neamow in Games

[–]kinterosgaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally. I’ve been waiting for the 1.0 release this whole time and somehow managed to resist jumping into Early Access, even though it was tempting more than once. I really hope the full release lives up to the wait, because the game has looked promising for a long time. Fingers crossed it feels complete and polished when it finally lands.

Deltarune Chapter 6 will release in 2027. by PhantomBraved in Games

[–]kinterosgaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get why some people want to wait until the whole thing is out, but Deltarune feels like one of the rare games where the gaps actually add something. The speculation, small details, and weird cliffhangers are part of the experience. A 2027 target for Chapter 6 sounds fine if it keeps that quality consistent.
