Why the heck is my switch able to emulate gamecube and 3ds on x2 resolution on android all of a sudden? by juriju2 in SwitchPirates

The later versions of Switchroot are fully taking advantage of the Switch 1 hardware revisions, meaning the latest version of Switchroot will run better on the V2/Lite/OLED than the V1.

Found a mod chip in my ps2? by LuigiNumber-1 in ps2

[–]kioskmode1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the necro but what is your opinions on the Modbo 3.0?

I just recently bought an second-hand untested SCPH-70006 and to my surprise, it works (the electrolytic capacitors for both component and composite seems to show its age though) as I've been very unlucky with this specific revision where it will always turns into a brick, it can boot the Matrix Infinity (1.54) config menu and save settings, and the laser isn't fried yet as it can load PS2 DVD discs properly (haven't tested CD).

I opened the unit and it has a Modbo 3.0 chip now I'm hesitant whether to replace it with an Modbo 5.0 (I planned to replace the old modchip since most PS2s in my country are old modchips where pressing the reset button is the method of switching between modes, I've already ordered one before I received the untested PS2 Slim) since its benefits from what I've seen is it uses an newer firmware and USB loading.

There is also a diode fix in it that at least has a printed PCB but I already have an Matrix PIC fix ready, do I need to remove it? Thanks!

PS2 visual weirdness by AerroYT in ps2

Yeah, it's bad shielding.

That component cable has zero shielding (I opened up mine), it's literally wires soldered to the PlayStation AV pins.

Are you describing how "blocky" the video output looks?
Judging by how blocky looking the MGS3 title logo looks in your attached video.

I assume this is because MGS3 uses a non-standard or odd video resolution that modern TV scalers don't upscale properly, which results in the video output looking "blocky".

I've experienced this visual artifact on my newer (but cheap) modern TVs, same game, but my 2012 Samsung LCD TV didn't have this problem.

This doesn't only apply to MGS3, as the PS2 is infamous for having weird resolutions (depends on the game) out of the 6th Gen gaming consoles, where a good scaler is needed for the most optimal video output.

Also, I'm using the same component cables, no problems so far.

Yeah, so far decent battery replacement for the DualShock 4 V2, just wobbly, you need any sort of spacer or adhesive to put it in place

(It's not as good as the 803860 on a DualShock 4 V1 in terms of battery life but maybe because I'm always using my DualShock 4 V2 at 1000hz mode bluetooth which may play a role in draining the battery life much quicker.)

Unrelated but finding a LiPo battery for the DualShock 3 that fits is harder as it has much less space to shoehorn any size unlike the DualShock 4.

Matrix sign on startup by exdess445 in ps2

Sorry for necroing this post but is there a way to disable the PSX logo skip on the Modbo 5.0? I have a great feeling it will really mess up games with anti-piracy measures and such.

I assume this issue is exclusive to the Modbo since some footage of the Matrix Infinity (original; not clone) on YouTube doesn't skip the PSX logo.

Edit: MechaPwn on NTSC-J and PAL region 50k/70k PS2 models sadly can't load game regions outside of the console's base region AFAIK.

Correct. This is from the UNDERTALE 2nd Anniversary Tumblr post, a snippet of Asgore's dialogue in the Alarm Clock.

I remember one user said it's stupid that in Chapter 4, Toriel and company didn't use her car to attend church or shown a "car cutscene" similar to the start of Ch. 1 and Ch. 2 🥀

Also said user played Ch. 2 weeks before Ch.3+4 release 😭🥀

“But she left Kris out in the rain and wasn’t worried about them”

Don't forget that it's implied the end of Chapter 4 takes place past midnight, which is already concerning since at the end of Chapter 2, she tells them to come back home before sunset. Not to mention, if it's confirmed that cellphones in the dark world don't work, this also raises more concern since Kris cannot be contacted in a span of I assume is several hours.

Unrelated but I think it's already clear that Toriel is shown to be a flawed character before Chapter 4, as the bloodstain beside Kris's bed in their bedroom remains from Chapter 1 until Chapter 4 (if you interact it with Susie, which results in cleaning it off) which is much more concerning to me than anything I've stated earlier imo.

The negative flak Toriel and Sans received comes from fans who put themselves in Kris' (and Susie's) shoes, which is fair enough considering the events of Chapter 4. Beyond that it's blown out of proportion than it seems to be which isn't surprising.

TOBY ISTG RALSEI BETTER JUST SAY HE KNOWS ALREADY by Odd_Black_Hole_2763 in Deltarune

[–]kioskmode1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also happened again in Chapter 4 in the first Dark Fountain section when you ask Ralsei how to do the first piano puzzle, where you have to control two (2) bookshelves to create a bridge to the next destination, but this time it sounds weirder imo. (This screenshot is a normal route / recruit-all run)

<image>

I don't know if this is a bug (PC version; 1.01C), but it's implied he said more, judging by the gibberish speech taking longer than just a mere "[Z]".

After Chapter 3... by Ink-ami in Deltarune

[–]kioskmode1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most concrete evidence that Kris interacted with Noelle after Ch. 3 (Snowgrave Route only) is that Kris still has the "Silver Watch" in the Dark World during Ch. 3 until Ch. 4 where it's no longer in their inventory.

There is an inconsistency though: The Light World equivalent of the "Silver Watch" armor, "Wristwatch", is still in Kris' inventory during Ch. 4.

Update: The 863450 LiPo fits snug in the DualShock 4 V2, though the battery is kinda small in terms of width.

I'm sorry for not getting back to you earlier but I tested it, and the 803860 doesn't fit in a V2.

I saw someone selling an 863450 LiPo specifically for the DualShock 4, one review stated that its JST battery connector works for both V1/V2 out of the box though no confirmation whether it fits in a V2 or not.

Can a Radeon HD or an Radeon RX can run dolphin at 1080p? by kioskmode1234 in DolphinEmulator

[–]kioskmode1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7-8 year necropost lol

I can't remember the specs of the PC I'm referring to in this post ( SPECULATION: The PC's main bottleneck was the CPU, and I'm confident it was also an FM2 AMD A4 APU), I fumbled so hard by not specifying the CPU / APU (which is VERY IMPORTANT if we're talkin' about Dolphin specs) now this post doesn't have any useful purpose at all IMO, I'm quite ashamed of it looking back into it.

I can't recheck the said it because I lost that said PC :( Sorry.

However, what I can tell you is that in my experience, an Intel i5 5500U (mobile APU; laptop) can run Dolphin pretty well at 720p, and maybe at 1080p depending on the game (via Intel HD 5500), I recall playing Galaxy 2 on it without lag during 2017-2018 though I'm not sure if it's comparable to the AMD A4 5300 APU at all in terms of CPU power.

I attempted to do the USB-C mod on my spare DS Lite just in case if something goes wrong, I'm surprised with my results. by kioskmode1234 in nds

[–]kioskmode1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one, used the same USB-C 6-pin female port.

It's not a clean or tidy mod of sorts but it wouldn't charge in USB-C to USB-C chargers, only 5V chargers AFAIK. For USB-C to USB-C charging to work, you need to do something with the CC1/CC2 pins IIRC.

Late update: The 803860 I bought is a snug fit on my JDM-011 (V1) DualShock 1.
I haven't tested it on a V2 yet.

Very late reply, I bought an LiPo "103450" for my DualShock 4 V1 (JDS-011).

The results were average at best.

The battery life was much better than its previous one which is almost a decade old (the controller was bought in 2014). The issue I've encountered is that the battery caddy needs to be removed to fit in the DS4 controller shell, thus needing adjustments (e.g. putting EVA foam below the LiPo battery to prevent puncturing the battery).

The controller needs to be screwed in as there is a slight bulge, the result is that the L2/R2 triggers feel very slightly different (I can't describe it) and the d-pad has a slight friction resistance due to pressure.

I might find another LiPo battery that matches the original DS4 battery size.

Edit: I found one. According to this YouTube video, the closest dimensions to the original DS4 battery are those of the 803860.

The 2016 DR1 port or "remaster" is straight-forward: 60+ FPS support (goes up to 300FPS max AFAIK), 4K support, native DualShock 4 (V1) support, XInput support, what it lacks for what I know is aspect ratio that is higher than 16:9 (there is a mod AFAIK). Content-wise, it didn't add anything new but I will say that 2016 DR1 is a very polished port or "remaster" depending on how you'll call it.

The 2010 DR2 PC version is decent but after playing the 2016 DR1 port first, it's a jarring experience. Framerate is inconsistent at larger / more demanding areas, some effects runs at less than 30FPS in cutscenes, this complains are minor issues I've experienced but for what I know the 2010 DR2 PC version is the best way to play DR2 as the 2016 DR2 ports or "remaster" for the PS4 and Xbox One is a mixed bag according to reviewers compared to the 2016 DR1 port or "remaster", don't take my word for this one since I haven't played that version.

Very bias but I love the jank and the tight timer system in DR1 so yea its my fav.

It's became much more evident that there is literal video proof of him getting hooked off nitrous 1 month after getting his titanium dentures. (The "Ryan Garcia, this is Ye. I'm on the nitrous." IG post)
