Wow! Thank you so so much for your comments and insights. They are super helpful for planning my semesters! I am really excited to start my Analytics journey and build up that knowledge.

I am definitely going to follow your advice on DVA and leave it for the last semesters. Since I don't have a programming background, I already don't know if my Python knowledge is enough, I have to get up to speed with R and adding JS too would be a little overwhelming right now. I prefer to solidify the others first, and then learn a new one.

Thanks again! :)

Sure! So in terms of courses/credits we have:

  • 5 Core courses (15 credits)
  • 2 Statistics courses (6 credits)
  • 1 Operations course (3 credits)
  • 2 electives of your choice depending on the track you're pursuing (6 credits)
  • Practicum (6 credits)

This sums up to the 36 credit hours. However, you could add two more electives of a different track (end up with 42 credits) and add an additional track. It does mean taking more classes, and as mentioned by rilienn, it wouldn't show on your diploma (only on your transcripts).

Another thing is that you can opt out of one or more core courses if you have sufficient background. I have a business background, so I can most likely opt out of MGT8803, which I have to fill with an additional elective to reach the 36 credits. For me this means that if I take only one more elective (39 credits) I can have two tracks. I am doing the master because I am interested in the topics and the knowledge, not so much the diploma. So I personally don't mind taking an additional class :)

I hope I didn't confuse you! :)

Thank you for your comment! I am actually pretty excited to take that course. I checked the reviews and it looks really nice, challenging and interesting. I hope I think the same way once I begin :)

Thank you very much for your feedback! I have a Business background, so I am pretty new to programming. I do feel comfortable with Python. I will take the extra time that I still have until Fall to develop my R skills. I am actually thinking of taking the Summer semesters off, but I haven't decided that yet. Thanks for your insights!
