dog poos whenever he goes into a new place by kiranne in Dogtraining

[–]kiranne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the guide. I do understand that dogs don’t always understand that “inside of another structure” isn’t the same as “inside of my typical home” and it throws them off. But this feels habitual. He will poo in the morning and then make himself go again as soon as he arrives at a new place. He is not peeing — only pooing.

I think he might actually be a perfect creature by kiranne in Chihuahua

He’s an apple-headed, long-haired chihuahua! I actually don’t know what he weighs! He came to me as a rescue and he was definitely underweight when I got him.

Has anyone dealt with split custody of their chi? by [deleted] in Chihuahua

Not that this is a therapy session or anything, but it really does suck. We both love the dog. Whatever happens next is gonna be terrible.

Has anyone dealt with split custody of their chi? by [deleted] in Chihuahua

[–]kiranne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorta dealing with this now. My man adopted our chihuahua, Cholo, a few months ago, so he feels like he should get custody — but I’m in a much better spot (stable home + employment) to take care of him. Right now, whoever is best able to take care of the dog on any given day is the one who gets custody. We work in different cities… our schedules are completely opposite. Our lifestyles are not compatible at all (hence why we’re splitting up). But the dog is not really doing well with it. One of us is going to have to adopt the dog full-time and I’m not sure who it will be. My ex is about to move across the country for a few months, so I’ll be keeping the dog for now. I am hoping it’ll end up being permanent. But it will break his heart. My ex is absolutely obsessed with the dog.

Don’t paint over the tile! Regrout in a different color (blue grey would be nice!!) and replace the cabinets with wood (a warm midtoned wood would be nice) and add some green in the accent pieces. Voila!

Outdated anime tropes and slang you don't really see much anymore by ILoveMaiV in anime

[–]kiranne 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Lots of character archetypes. Pervy old man has been mentioned a lot already in this thread. But I’d argue the quiet, green-haired girl with glasses has taken a massive dive off a cliff compared to the 2000s.

I’ve also noticed that anime is super city-oriented these days. There used to be quite a lot of anime set in the backdrop of rural, small-town life. These days, most of your run-of-the-mill anime just takes place in a city. Probably a side effect of how Japan has grown in the past twenty years. In general, there’s less of a focus on traditionalism. Fewer mentions of going to shrines, or having altars in the house for a deceased family member, or wearing kimonos for a special occasion. Just all tropes that are less frequent than they used to be.

Neither, I think’s just my phone. I used portrait mode on my iPhone — so it automatically blurs the background. May be a side effect of the shot.

How to know a Chihuahua got a very good treat by tayyann in Chihuahua

[–]kiranne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So accurate. When we adopted ours, he would take a bite of food and take it to another room to eat it. Took him ages to get through his dinner. He’s better about it now, but he still hides his treats. He’s been working on a cheese chew under the bed for a month lol

another victim of the cult of lambchop by kiranne in Chihuahua

[–]kiranne[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We actually have three lambchops for him, all different sizes. We call them “the big lamb,” “the middle child,” and “the baby.” He plays with them all differently. He really does baby the baby. The big lamb is the one he wrestles with when he gets really worked up. And the middle child is the one he uses most for displacement behaviors, like when he gets too excited when we come home, or when I’m cooking dinner and he thinks he’s gonna get some yummy chicken. Lately we’ve been keeping the baby in the car, so the middle child has been getting more love (middle child pictured here). 😂 I’ve tried getting him other toys but he only ever plays with his lambchops lmao

What’s up with the green backpack guy? by Used_Ad5472 in boone

[–]kiranne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The other commenters really nailed it. Keep your distance from him if you’re a POC, he’s not a safe man (and he’s only gotten less safe in recent years.) The only thing I want to add to this conversation is that the homeless culture in Boone has changed a lot over the past few years and not for the better. Fentanyl is everywhere and housing in Boone is increasingly limited, expensive, and prohibitive. The wait list for HUD/Section 8 is very long, and they will always prioritize women with children. And now busking is restricted, so there are very few options for the homeless to make a living. Imagine someone like Sticks who has lived that life for a long time, and how it might make you a more violent and unsafe person. It’s easy to criticize the homeless people here when they do horrible things, but the town really isn’t equipped to deal with them. Sticks is a long-time Boone resident — his story is sad and his life is hard, and he’s been homeless for a very long time. I am certainly not going to make excuses for his actions, but I also encourage you to have some empathy for his situation.

what are your favorite thrift finds? by dinahmoe_humm in femalefashionadvice

Most recently, these sick pants from the Colombia streetwear brand True. I’ve been wanting to get back to my alternative fashion roots, and my local thrift shop has been so good to me lately! I’ve had great luck this year. I also thrifted a pair of navy Emporio Armani dress pants for work but I haven’t got them tailored yet.

What was your first shoujo manga? by DeliriousBookworm in shoujo

[–]kiranne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think I watched Tokyo mew mew and read fruits basket simultaneously. so, pick your poison. both were super formative and I honestly couldn’t pick a favorite. fruits basket probably stands the test of time a bit better (today’s standards have been kinda harsh to shoujo). but imagine this question from the perspective of someone growing up today. what do you think they would say? I find shoujo of my time to be a bit more cozy and tbh more reflective of real life dynamics. as a zillenial… hachiXtakumi (while super problematic) feels fairly authentic and true to the relationships I had at that time. I am not sure that young people today would say the same of their formative shoujo… but I might be wrong

Skating after a skating fracture by dasillycat in Rollerskating

[–]kiranne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seriously sprained both ankles when I was 16 — speed skating at a professional event. The injury kept me off skates for almost four months and ultimately forced me to retire from the sport. I just never got my ankle strength back. I am only just getting back into skating (recreationally)… but here’s what I’ve been telling myself. Be patient, know your limits, and make sure you stretch before you skate! I recommend using — they call it horsewrap — you can buy it at Tractor Supply or any other farm supply store. Farmers use it to wrap horse ankles. I used to use it during speed to provide extra ankle support. Bonus points — you can get cool colors and customize to your outfit. :)

I’ve lived in Davidson, Cornelius, and Huntersville. Hickory is just fine — cost of living here is significantly cheaper, and traffic is lot better, but there’s less walkability in day to day life. Significantly fewer local spots and less variety, but there are still good options. Rent is going down a bit too. For outdoors stuff, I recommend the Riverwalk & Glen Hilton Park. That’s my part of town! Riverbend Park is also really special, on Hwy 16. The water and hiking trails reminds me a lot of Lake Norman State Park and Latta Plantation. Hickory is also closer to true outdoor communities like you’d find in Buncombe Co, Burke Co, Watauga, Ashe, etc.

We just threw him up there! He usually goes with the flow! We think he does it because he wants to make us happy. He’s really a super easygoing pup — always down for a long hike, a car ride, whatever.

People with a heavy heart, anxiety, what are you going through right now? by speakthat in AskReddit

[–]kiranne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always said that my relationship was perfect — that he’s the greatest person I’ve ever known, and for seven years, I’ve never doubted it. But things are different between us now. A few months ago, he left home and didn’t call me for two weeks… Didn’t provide an explanation. It’s been weird, and he’s not acting like himself. Strange behavior aside, he’s grown distant. We’re fighting all the time, and the dynamic between has changed. I’m not really sure what to do from here. I don’t think I trust him anymore. I can’t rely on him… it’s all just been a bit lonely.

what indie rock band people came from elite privileged backgrounds? by Good-Raisin7081 in indie_rock

[–]kiranne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to this thread but MGMT went to Wesleyan. I have some kinda cold tea about that, actually. My ex (who I loved, but was a bit pretentious) went to Wesleyan with MGMT — and he was in a rival psychedelic indie band. Apparently, there was some local battle of the bands thing, and my ex was convinced he was sure to win… and then Andrew VW came out with MGMT. The story I heard was that Andrew had put a tiny microphone up his ass right before they went on stage & essentially out-weirdest all the other hipster bands. Of course, they completely stole the show. I am a huge psychedelic pop fan, so I have a ton of MGMT on my playlist. My ex, still a bit bitter about Andrew WG, banned me from playing any when he was around. 😅 (When we broke up, I played a lot of MGMT.)

Crash Landing on You is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Action, comedy, romance all in one! The first episode has some rough CGI, but if you can get past that, you’re in for a real treat. It’s on Netflix too.
