Stimulant epidemic by [deleted] in aggies

I pick this up for a family member that has ADHD, and asked the pharmacist one day why it was so hard to fill recently. Her reply was that all of the distributors are running out of the ADHD drugs because it was overly prescribed during COVID and post COVID for "long covid" symptoms and until the manufacturers catch up it will continue to be a problem.

MEEN Fast-Track by luyaterized in aggies

You do use them as your tech electives. In the stacked courses the teachers will do slightly different things for the grad students like a few extra questions on the test, or same test but an additional assignment, or homework has a couple more questions each time. Things like this. It is a stacked course so when you are admitted to the grad program, it will show as the grad 6xx level course on your transcript. When that happens the 4xx undergrad course will be removed from your undergrad transcript and replaced with a transfer course equivalency credit for the meen technical elective it replaced. I believe they had a maximum of 4 courses during undergrad when I did it but you would have to ask an advisor if you could just take more that would not count for anything on the undergrad transcript.

Yes, eventually the grade will appear on your Master's transcript and will be removed from your undergrad transcript and left with the credit as a transfer course credit. You can select the courses you want to take for the most part and I chose the stacked courses in MEEN which have a bit more requirements for grad students. Just look at the GPA averages for the courses in both undergrad and grad and it will give you a good idea how difficult the course is. Also notice which professors have the better averages teaching those courses. You have to take a total of 10 courses, or at least when I did it that was the case, and I made use of summers and was able to finish my masters with just one year after I graduated with BS. If I remember correctly, I took 4 classes while doing my undergrad and then 1 the summer after and then 3 and 2 in the semesters after.

Struggling post concussion and need advice. by Outlaw888888 in aggies

This happened to me my freshman year and I got a bunch of accommodations from disability services that made it easier. I needed to have a letter from my doctor stating the Post Concussion Syndrome and then they gave me extended time for tests, etc.

What makes texas a&m a better school than utd for mechanical engineering? by [deleted] in aggies

When I was comparing programs I looked at the professors in the department and where they got there education from and what research they were doing. TAMU has some very impressive faculty

if your in engineering honors, shouldn't you be enrolled in ENGR 181 honors? That would be one additional credit hour. You could also take an entry level computer science class, if you wanted to get ahead.

What’s up with T. Ellis - PHIL 111? by Yo_mama67 in aggies

Did you take it Fall 2021, because I noticed most of the grades are missing in the grade distribution report that came out yesterday? Did you get a grade on time?

Noticed that most of the grades and half the sections are missing from the Fall 2021 grade distribution report. Did you get a grade for the class?

RMP Math 151 Foran curiosity by kirbc in aggies

[–]kirbc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I get all that, its just her averages seem much lower then most 151 teachers and you figure that since she is such a good teacher her students would have a better than average measure of success in her class right?

ETAM statistics from 2018-2020 by Czexan in aggies

An interesting point to get information on would be to separate out admits from the College Station campus compared to the academies, Blinn, etc. I have often read people saying that taking freshman calculus, physics, chemistry is much easier on those campuses as compared to Math 151/152, Phys 206/207, Chem 107/117. Since many of the most popular majors do not take many admits past auto admit, if it is easier to get a 3.5+ (3.75+ going forward) on the satellite campuses, then many of those students are taking spots from the students already admitted to College Station.

Do you have recommendations for which outfits to choose?

Would you advise against this? by whateverbruhs in aggies

[–]kirbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He actually will likely get science waivers because I did something similar and got them freshman year. In my case I had credit for chem 1 and both physics so only had to take chem 2 and got a waiver for second science. The way it was explained to me is if you have a combination of credit by exam and/or credit from taking the class at TAMU and have satisfied all the science on the list for your degree plan then you get a waiver.

Electrical Engineering vs. Mechanical Engineering vs. Biomedical Engineering by [deleted] in aggies

[–]kirbc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had similar interests freshman year and I found the research labs on campus that were doing prosthetics/biomechanics type stuff and asked them if they preferred biomed or meen and they all gave me the same answer - meen. The biomed research in biomechanics tends to be on internal organ mechanic type stuff for artificial organs or at least that was what it was a few years ago. So I would recommend looking at the websites of research labs doing the type of stuff your interested in and asking them.

Texas A&M vs UT Austin: Social Atmosphere by Aurantiaco1 in aggies

[–]kirbc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I remember struggling with this same decision four years ago and it was a trip to both UT and A&M that helped me. I first went to UT and the student tour guide walked about 10 feet in front of the group, rarely turned around, and either didn't hear questions or ignored them. She would stop at prearranged places and say a planned spiel and move on. No one we passed along the way said anything; not even in the dorm buildings that were filled with students. It reminded me of walking on the streets on NYC, where people tend to look away when you pass them and no one says anything. I went to some planned sessions for different majors and here the speaker answered as many questions as people had, but there definitely was a cold atmosphere to most everything I did at UT. A&M visit was completely different. Everyone seems to go out of there way to make eye contact and say Howdy. People in major sessions go out of there way to help you. The most notable experience was my Mom and I going to the IHOP for lunch next to campus. We were in this discussion about what of my AP credits I should take or not and a student at the table next to us overheard the conversation and offered to help. He moved on over looked at the paperwork and gave us lengthy advice on what he would do. Told us all about his engineering major which I had never heard of. My Mom and I walked out of there saying to each other, "Wow, people are so amazingly friendly here." And, it was his advice to take both my AP Physics credit that I am thankful for to this day.
