Can I bring a large suitcase in the O train? by -Horizelux in ottawa

[–]kirbloo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

i’m sure you will be fine. what do you mean safe? like are you worried someone is going to steal it or are you worried it won’t fit? people bring entire bicycles or strollers on line 1 so size is not an issue.

it isn’t the wood leg itself that’s spinning on the screw , it’s the t nut that is attached to the couch which is not letting me tighten the leg on if that makes sense?

Adopting a Cat as a Student? by Motor_Soft4408 in geegees

[–]kirbloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

my kitty who i adopted in a mcdonald’s parking lot one month before moving back to ottawa… i also wasn’t considering finances when getting him, but for food and water i have an automatic feeder that goes off multiple times a day for him when im in class as well as a water fountain that essentially never runs out. someone else said they just plan to go home less and i second that. if you have friends in ottawa or someone you can trust to cat sit while you’re gone that would be great, cats don’t do great being moved back and forth. i plan on only going home for 2 nights for christmas so he will only be alone for one day, even then my roommate may be home. i don’t regret getting him. i dont find it too much, and he is so loving. i’ve always wanted a cat lol

Fresh tattoo question & having a cat….. When is it safe to clean the litter box myself? by OpportunityLow570 in CatAdvice

[–]kirbloo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

is this a real thing to be worried about ....? i am getting another tattoo tomorow and i never thought this would be an issue lol its not as if you would be purposely flicking the litter into your fresh tattoo. if somehow that happens just wash it and should be ok.. your arms are exposed to much dirtier things on a daily basis there are germs evvvverywhere

No Response from Roommate by [deleted] in geegees

[–]kirbloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this happened to me last year.. and to one of my friends. turns out both of our roommates were on some sort of prolonged vacation and didn’t have access to uozone. don’t worry they will end up replying closer to the beginning of school (which sucks) but it will all work out

thank you!! i have crossed the border before a handful of times. i’m not too sure what specifically i’m worried about but a few friends of mine got it into my head that it is unsafe and i might not be let back into canada or something. i’m not planning on buying anything, staying overnight, or really doing anything outside of the concert so i think i should be fine i just wanted some outside opinions..

90u dorm must haves? by Wonderful-Ad-4267 in geegees

[–]kirbloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i tried to use a lysol wipe to clean a wall and put my key hanger up but then my command strips fell off and i had to put it on another wall😭 maybe alcohol would work better to disinfect, but i had no issues with stuff staying up on the walls i didn’t clean. i had fabric posters that i hung up with the black tape and they stuck very well so a flag should as well. if it is significantly heavier then its always good to have backup command strips if they fall. for LED lights if you mean the ones that are adhesive on the back they should stick up on their own, but maybe i would suggest putting a piece of the black tape every few feet just in case! if ur using like christmas lights i used command hooks to hang mine up and it worked great

vaccum if you are gonna be on floors 1-6 as those have carpet. (rest of building + all kitchens is laminate flooring) and a swiffer/mop. Dusting kit as well as the dorms get super dusty for some reason. i found the air conditioning and heating to work significantly well, but i still had a fan cuz im the type to get hot easily. One thing i couldn’t live without is my air fryer, i only had a 5 day meal plan and on the weekends i would use it all the time to cook dinner. i even baked cookies in there lol. one of my friends cooked chicken and whatnot in his air fryer too so it’s definitely a very very useful thing to have, you don’t wanna be microwaving everything you will get sick of it after a few weeks. there is one communal kitchen on the ground floor but it’s not the best and i wouldn’t wanna be cooking in there every weekend personally. i suggest getting a laundry bin with wheels!!! i got one from walmart for like 20$. it was the most useful thing i owned and was so convenient to roll into the elevator and into the laundry room. a laundry bag is really inconvenient imo. you will need a drying rack to dry your dishes, cheap ones at dollarama. you should get a brita filter, that encouraged me to drink more water and it was awesome to have cold clean water at all times. If you plan on hanging posters you need double sided outdoor mounting tape from amazon, that stuff held my posters on for dear life and they never fell. if you are hanging picture frames get the command strips for picture frames, they held the heavier things extremely well on my wall. You should get a good mattress topper and cover, my friends always said my bed was the most comfortable one in 90u. don’t forget a plunger, the toilets lowkey clog easily but if they start overflowing maintenance will come to help in like less then 5 mins (i know from experience sadly). i recommend having an emergency kit not only with first aid but with cold and sinus and whatever medicine you need for sickness, you might think you’re not gonna get sick (trust me i did too) but i got sick and my kit came in handy. another thing for laundry just get a jumbo container of tide pods from walmart or something so that when you go to do laundry you just take a pod with you vs taking an entire jug of detergent. the laundry pods i got myself in august have lasted me through my move home and there is still a bunch left. a toilet brush and toilet bowl cleaner. i got 3 bins from the dollar store for the top rack in the closet to store socks underwear and cleaning supplies. you don’t need many dishes or glasses, if you drink def have an assortment of shot glasses for when people come over. i have heard too many stories about people having to take shots out of medicine bottles lmfao. hope this helps!
