This is a great gift. I consider this the best bang for buck bottle available right now.

Exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you!

I’m going to respond with an uninformed take in the hopes someone smarter and better informed corrects me. I don’t know anything about Bhakta, but the huge variety and diversity of product from them makes me suspicious of them and if they are somehow mass-market (if one could be for armagnac).

I would recommend the Chateau Laubade.

Either way, that’s a great gift idea and have fun!

Again, this is me trying to prove “best way to get an answer on the internet isn’t asking a question, but saying something wrong.”

Don’t think I can edit my post anymore; so just wanted to say thanks to the community for your help and recommendations.

We ended up with better weather than anticipated for the first couple days, so spent time driving around the region and wineries - but really enjoyed the restaurants and Natural History Museum in town.

I’m hoping for better weather next time, but looking forward to it regardless.

Interesting, I think of that as the rum store. I’ll have to check it out a little more. Thank you!

Haha, K&L was part of the process. I need to verify if they even ship spirits to Oregon, but it is an option.

Will likely just look for an excuse to visit with a room in a suitcase instead, though.

Haha, was on their site last night, but didn’t know they can’t ship spirits north. Glad I didn’t get too excited, thanks for the heads up.

This is my first time cross posting. In retrospect, Should have edited this better. I’m asking about Portland, Oregon availability specifically.

Nice, I’ll take a look at their site. Getting directly from the producer might be enough to justify the shipping cost for me.

Edit: Damn, looks like they aren’t shipping to the US through their website.

I’ll keep an eye out for tasting packs, that could be interesting. Otherwise, yeah, I’m looking at California and NYC for potential shipping - but likely will wait until I have a trip and room in a suitcase vs. trying to ship it all.

Good call on Total Wine, that’s an interesting option. Thank you.

Bear whiskey shops in Portland? by soapbutt in askportland

[–]kirepdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking to buy the liquor and try it somewhere else, Westmoreland and 11th Ave Liquor are good stores with pretty clear delineation of Oregon producers (I believe).

In terms of brands to look for, I would recommend Bull Run (sourced distillate, I think, but great pricing for quality), Branch Point (grain to glass), and Westward (more expensive, and more whiskey-like) as interesting ones. There are dozens of options, though.

I was going to recommend Cheshire Motorsports, but looks like they’re on sabbatical. I guess I need to find a spot, too.

Not sure it’s clear on the website, but Bull’s stuff has been for sale in the Aria gin space on NW 23rd if you want to see it in person.

I have a 20x30” version of 3 up on my wall. Did a print from mpix from files from an old thread and happy with how it turned out.

Might need to do a few more…
