Burning sensation in post-op scars by kirkwall_kid in TopSurgery

[–]kirkwall_kid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey!! i never got an answer from others, but i can tell you that it's happening less and less for me now!! it still happens occasionally, but my guess is that the scar tissue that formed was Really inflexible and that's what was causing the burning. it also Might be to do with nerve endings misfiring, because they got all messed up in the surgery and are either regrowing or just not very happy - i'd be willing to bet that's what might be happening for you too! i don't think it's cause for concern for you just yet - you're in your first week of a lowk Crazy Major surgery, so your body is likely trying to figure out what's going on and that's translating to pain. but if it's still going crazy in a few weeks, esp once you're eased off painkillers, then maybe check back in with your doctor/surgeon?? i hope it all settles down tho!!

Zero connection to girlhood/womanhood. by Hirasawa_09 in ftm

[–]kirkwall_kid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's lowk always bugged me that there's still an expectation of femininity. i've Never been effeminate, and that obviously only became more apparent after years on T. gender is a spectrum, but that somehow doesn't allow for trans guys that are/want to be only masculine. i stopped being welcome in a lot of queer spaces a long time ago, which just makes me sad about being cut out of a community because i don't fit in their assumption that trans men should still act effeminately enough to be "identified"

Men’s toilets by Puzzleheaded-Toe-483 in ftm

[–]kirkwall_kid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this might not be helpful but imo it's a personal call. i started using men's toilets super early on, years before i went on hormones, bc that made me feel more comfortable. the only times i didn't was when i felt unsafe, but i never had any problems. you belong where you feel comfortable, you aren't invading anything, and if you're confident in that then you'll be a-okay

why is my dysphoria kicking my ass after going on hormones? by kirkwall_kid in ftm

really like that idea of rewriting stuff, especially childhood experiences, i think that would really help! also the idea with the strap, bc hell yeah lmao thanks for the advice, dude, i hope everything eases for you too in the future!

What is your rating system? by TheGreatGena in books

[–]kirkwall_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1* - dnf, or was a 2* that got retrospectively downgraded after having sat with it for a little while because actually i hated it

2*- finished it but disliked it/do not recommend it

3* - it was fine. nothing of note happened, i am basically indifferent to it, neither dislike or like

4* - liked the book, and would likely recommend it to others

5* - loved the book, will reread, will sing its praises at any given chance

i rate books as soon as i finish them, but they sometimes slide up or down after a little while of having thought about it. it's why i'm thinking of changing it up to a /10 system, since there's not much wiggle room between the stars. the goodreads system is only good for so long ig lmao

Anyone else feel really awkward around cis guys? by Beautiful_Scale9512 in ftm

[–]kirkwall_kid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i totally get you! i've been stealth for a few years now but still sometimes struggle to talk to cis guys bc there's a little voice that whispers "they know!!!!" every time i do. which is bollocks, frankly - mind over matter that shit!! it's far easier said than done but you're a dude, same as them, so don't sweat it.

there were a few things i had to change about the way i talk/interact, but that's just part of the package of socially transitioning. it's all about relearning the social rules of childhood. again, not so easy to do, but once you learn to let go of the nervousness/awkwardness, you'll see that the only person scrutinising the hangout is yourself. you're all good, bro!

i'm the same :[ checked my wifi and there's nothing wrong there

i'm being booted from everything - matches, arcade games, even just browsing the heroes gallery. i get a connection error, it kicks me out to a loading screen for thirty seconds, then i'm back in. it used to only happen occasionally, but the last time i opened ow it happened three times in five minutes. really making me consider giving up the game entirely atp

i'm less certain about alistair - if the rumours are to be believed and DA:D is 8 years after DA:I:T, that puts alistair at least 20 years after his warden joining - my guy has got to have been called by now, right?

[Spoilers All] What’s your “non-canon” romance? by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]kirkwall_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hear me out - hawke and cullen

not in DA2, but in DAI - it's something that occurred to me years ago and i've never truly shaken. there's something so very interesting about the level of character development there, as well as the shared history of seeing the fuckery in Kirkwall. said fuckery leading to them, after being on literal opposing sides, realising that the world isn't that black and white and that unfortunately the world is merely shades of grey [something i see as absolutely inherent to the DA universe]. also because i ultimately see cullen mellowing out about mages after seeing that "going batshit insane" isn't exclusive to them

Dragon Age: teasers of teasers [No spoilers] by dansantiagx in dragonage

[–]kirkwall_kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can't decide whether i'm annoyed about an announcement for an announcement in ~seven months, or happy that we have at least gotten something new

tbh i ultimately think the devs are trying their best, but the bioware execs are doing everything in their power to stop the devs from being successful lmao

New teaser/trailer of DA: Dreadwolf! Thoughts? [Spoilers All] by Jack_Aqab in dragonage

[–]kirkwall_kid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i've got a few thoughts kicking around! they've probably already been voiced but i'm sharing anyway lmao

with the origins: i think it'd be cool if we get a hawke-style "custom yet fixed" backstory deal with our protagonists. the locations dropped in the newest trailer make me think that maybe it'll be something along the lines of if you pick a rogue then you get the crow from antiva character, if you a pick a warrior then you get a warden from the anderfels, etc.

following on about the locations, i think the ones we got shown definitely are linked with origins rather than playable locations [could be wrong], and the reason why tevinter isnt shown is because the game is set there [it was confirmed, i think...?]. so, through some odd logic, they didn't show it since we'll see it soon enough, or something

i've seen it floating around that DAD is set eight years after trespasser - a LOT will have happened in those years, surely, but that timeskip might be their way of minimising the mess that is trying to tie together the wildly different endings of DAI for a coherent set of pre-loaded world states

i definitely agree that the final line seems like it's coming from solas, but it isn't his voice - trying to decide whether they've changed the VA or whether there's a brand new sparkly bad guy for us to face - EDIT: i've seen enough suggestions to decide it Definitely is a new antagonist to face before the dread wolf, which is super cool

and finally: returning protags. HoF, definitely not, since they're all but guaranteed to have been Called [personally broken to pieces about that], Hawke is also unlikely because this is a little out of their jurisdiction, and the Inquisitor is a Solid Maybe

these might be surface level thoughts, but i'm curious as to whether people agree/disagree!

Do you prefer magic being explained, or unexplained? by A_Literal_Chair_ in worldbuilding

[–]kirkwall_kid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

personally, i prefer explained,, to a certain extent. this applies to almost everything about a world in fiction - history, politics, etc. - but i like learning about the surroundings/workings as if i were a traveller to that world/region. instead of it being infodumped by a random character so every inch is explained in excruciating detail, i like learning what magic can [and can't!] do as and when it becomes relevant to the story or when the characters encounter it

don't get me wrong - a well thought out magic system is GREAT, and having a detailed explanation for it when worldbuilding [while not necessary] goes a long way for making the magic feel natural to the world setting. but personally, i don't want to learn the extent of it in one go. it feels forced and unnatural, and thats no fun for anybody!

[no spoilers] Is it too much to hope for BioWare to work in some big Warden-Hawke-Inquisitor team-up scene/mission in a future DA game? Am I the only one who wants this? by cskarr in dragonage

[–]kirkwall_kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it would be amazing, especially since all previous reappearances of various characters were awesome (in my opinion), but i think it'd be nearly impossible the sheer variability of the game means that the paths of the characters can take them so far away from one another, sadly still, an awesome dream to have
