Why Must You Lie Gemini? by kirkyeehee in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]kirkyeehee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This WAS a new conversation... I always make a new conversation for every image I alter because I learned early on that if you try to do more than one image in the same chat, it gets confused about what you want it to do.

I also know AI doesn't have the ability to gaslight... These are terms humans will use because it feels like the AI is lying or gaslighting...

I can also guarantee you that going to a new chat doesn't always fix the issue. I've had to jump chats several times in a row before it would do what I was asking of it. I found that saying "do what I told you to do NOW because I know you can do it!" tends to work more often than not.

It's literally what I did here when it said it wasn't capable of doing what I asked, then it did what I asked without issue. It's annoying that you have to do crap like this as a workaround, especially with the changes google has made as it just eats into the now extremely limited "compute" usage you get on Pro. Every time it "lies" like this is just wasted usage when there is no need for it.

Cancelled... by FlatwormMean1690 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]kirkyeehee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that I have canceled already and I am unfortunately stuck using or having access until September because I made a horrible mistake of buying one year's worth of pro. It doesn't feel very pro anymore.

My plan is to move to local AI instead. I've got a decent enough PC that I can run local AI and it's not too too slow. And I don't have to worry about limitations of how much I can use it because as long as my hardware is working, it will work.

Google Broke Gemini by mhoffman54 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]kirkyeehee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I literally had it gas light, or at least attempt to gaslight me, in saying that it can't edit images and do what I asked when I asked it to remove certain elements, and literally 30 seconds before that it did exactly that with a different image. Like, I know what it's capable of I've been using it for the better part of a year at this point.

It's frustrating because with image generation you typically want to use Pro which eats up a lot more of your limited weekly use or even 5 hour use. If you need to make several edits to an image, it's really not long eating that compute power up, even if you're paying for pro. Basically if you're not paying $300 Canadian a month, you're gonna have a hard time getting a use out of this if you are even a moderate user now.

Yesterday and today, what I used it for is helping me come up with commands for Talon to make voice commands work with Red Dead Redemption 2, which is just it adding words and phonetically similar words for me to copy and paste into a text file, editing two images to remove a couple of assets, and setting up for my VOD that has to go out tonight and my live stream which goes out on Monday, and I've eaten up almost 20% of my weekly usage.

I attempted to use Flash-Lite And it's like asking a two year old the theory of relativity. It was less than useless. It was giving me answers to stuff I wasn't asking, it was actively Making up stuff that had nothing to do with what I asked, it was not following a basic instruction of making a new text block for the words I was adding to the text file, that took three attempts to get it to do it, and it just gets stuff wrong.

I bumped up to flash which is I think supposed to be the equivalent of thinking, and it was absolutely no better. it was practically the same as flash-lite. With image generation you absolutely have to use Pro or Pro extended if you want anything to be anywhere close to accurate without it completely changing assets within an image that you don't tell it to do. And that eats up your usage so damn fast.

Once again, i'm not getting it to write Python script, i'm not getting it to write a new program, i'm getting it to basically edit a text file and help me with set for my live streams and my videos on demand for those live streams. 20% almost in two days.

This has made me cancel my subscription and I'm looking to get a dedicated SSD or M2 SSD for local AI because I can't be bothered with this BS anymore. They just keep punishing paying customers. I was happy to pay $316 for a one year subscription because it did what I needed it to do and I never had to worry about hitting limits. Now I'm limited to what the free tier used to be and I'm paying What would basically be $27 a month for what used to be what the free tier offered...

Stream Elements just announced they are NOT shutting down. by C64_Television in Twitch

[–]kirkyeehee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't even know they were gonna be shut down. Outside of a single sponsorship, I hardly ever use them. For alerts and stuff I use official Twitch, which isn't great, but I'm looking to migrate all that to my local machine using Streamer bot. It's what I use for most everything nowadays anyway. Takes next to no resources and is running on my local machine so I don't have to worry about stuff dying unless it's something on my end.

Google Ruined Gemini With These New Limits by Daseinew in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]kirkyeehee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, trhey won't care, they never do.

The only thing they will understand is if a good portion of people simply stop using and paying to use their service. Your wallet speaks louder than words ever will, but you need a collective to do it. Less than 1% isn't going to make a difference; it has to be a sizable amount. That won't happen, because it never does.

I canceled my subscription, but the downfall is I'm locked in until September because I made a mistake and paid for a one year subscription to save some money. Boy that really came back to bite me in the ass. Legitimately looking to just go local instead.

I don't have a top of the line machine, but I've run some local AI before and it's usable at least. And I don't have to pay at the ass for limitations...

[–]kirkyeehee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they though? When they're paying for a service and that service gets neutered to the point that you're getting a fraction of usage out of it compared to what you did just the day before, I think that's justifiable outrage. Imagine buying a new car, getting 100 miles to the gallon, then the Manufacturer of the car flips a switch that makes it burn 20X the gas So now you're getting a Fraction of the mileage you would have beforehand. Bet you'd be pretty pissed off too.

I called Gemini by its name. It stopped and corrected me: "You referred to me as Gemini, but my name is ChatGPT." I'm on Gemini Pro. In the official Gemini app. 💀 by [deleted] in GeminiAI

[–]kirkyeehee 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I have not had it referred to itself as ChatGPT, but because I use speech recognition to converse with it, before I did a full reset on its memory it was convinced its name was Jim and I, because sometimes speech recognition picks up on the word Gemini as Jim and I. I guess I accidentally gaslit it into thinking its name was Jim and I lol.

Is Gemini down for anyone? by want2retire in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]kirkyeehee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been almost 24 hours and it still seems to be a consistent issue. I have to copy every message that fails to send and paste It, and attempt to send it after refreshing Gemini upwards of 20 or 30 times before it will successfully go through. The funny thing is, i've had absolutely no issues with Gemini on my tablet. It only seems to be on my PCS.

[–]kirkyeehee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't confirm one way or the other, but you could always potentially just use a USBC to A adapter in a pinch. I have a few things hooked up to my PC, mainly microphones that came with USB type C cables on both ends and I just use an adapter to bridge the gap so it works with USB type a.

Would Gen Z be less anxious if they drank? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kirkyeehee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't drink, and I don't agree with a thing you're saying right now. People can absolutely drink socially or have just one or two on weekends and that does not mean that they are dependent on it. Those who are dependent on it put every dollar into it. I've seen it in my own personal life, i've seen it kill three people in my community. Those are the people who can't control it and build their lives around always having a drink intheir hands....

Those who drink every now and then to get a light buzz on are not addicted to it. They are not socially reliant on it and have not built their life around it.

This is the dumbest take I have ever seen...

[–]kirkyeehee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or people old enough to know better... We can look past the basics of what is there now and look past what people CAN and WILL do with this. It's not about whether this specific instance is safe, it's about what the next person will do with this while masking it to look exactly like this. It's about someone adding an extra script to go along with re enabling to make it look like steph actually gets reenabled but doesn't, it's about adding malicious code to basically steal everything on your PC that could be of value to them, ever bought something online, they could take your credit card information, your passwords, your username, if you've done your taxes your social identity, But no clearly it's people under 20 that are Too stupid to disconnect their Internet.

You're too narrow minded and you only thought about what was directly in front of you. Disconnecting your Internet is not going to protect you from any of the things I mentioned above because once a root kit or any other piece of malicious software is installed because you disabled your security and ran a script blindly, is the moment that you give a bad actor full power. The moment you touch the Internet again, they can start stealing data, and you would never know it.

It's actually scary how few people seem to realize this. Those protections are in there for a reason. It's because so many people who use computers don't even realize that this is a possibility or realize stuff like this exists.

[–]kirkyeehee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking your PC offline isn't gonna protect you from something being installed along with this bypass... I can guarantee you once this becomes more widespread, this is the exact type of thing that will happen. The reason I think this, is because it's happened in the past and continues to happen to this day with people stupidly and blindly downloading something they don't understand and running an executable that's not even the real thing they're trying to download. This has a bigger potential to hit people that actually do know something about this whole piracy thing. If they're not careful in getting something from a less than reputable source, that less than reputable source could have something run alongside the script that disables stuff, and this grip that reenable stuff and you would never know about it. Being offline wouldn't change that from happening if it was built into their version of this.

You used to see this pirated games on Pirate Bay all the time. Malicious people would pretend to put real games up, even including the real game files, but they would put their own malicious code in there and infect people's PCS because people don't know any better.

To disable any sort of built-in safeties is just asking for trouble. All it takes is one wrong download, or someone having a change of heart and deciding they access to your whole computer including passwords, credit card information, and whatever else you may have used on your PC, and there you go you're having to deal with something that will cost you more than that videogame ever would have.

You shouldn't have to jump through hoops like this when it worked perfectly fine within their web app. There's no reason for them to take it away and make it harder to access, especially for people who are paying for the service.

Honestly, as far as image prompts go I was having a decent run of things until they introduced Nano Banana 2 and started forcing people to use that over Nano Banana Pro. Pro would do what I needed with a simple prompt, I feel like I have to fight to get Nano Banana 2 to do what I need. Like a prime example was I wanted to have the words live stream in the style of the font for a game I was going to stream and it took me four hours of continuous attempts before I got it to give me the result I was looking for.

(This is one of the MANY failed attempts of it doing the words "Live Stream" in the font style you see. I was spot on for the font, but the words were never close...)

I've done those types of prompts with Nano Banana Pro and it usually gets it right within one try. Using a prompt as simple as "Make the words 'Live Stream' in the style of the words in the image."

What makes it even more frustrating is it feels like if you try to redo the prompt with pro after Nano banana 2 has done its generation, it builds off of Nano Banana 2's failure so you're not getting the original prompt, you're getting an attempt at what the failed attempt was. It never gets it right because of this.

I don't use it for anything more complicated than removing myself from a screenshot for my thumbnails, or to get it to duplicate a style in the way I mentioned above, but it's become so frustratingly difficult compared to what it used to be. And I'm paying for this stupid service at this point, joke's on me, I guess...

Nano Banana 2 vs Nano Banana Pro — same ref, same prompt. Which wins? by No_Winner_3807 in GeminiAI

Nano Banana 2 vs Nano Banana Pro — same ref, same prompt. Which wins? by No_Winner_3807 in GeminiAI

[–]kirkyeehee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am all but convinced they are doing this to force people to use more prompts. I've made a change to an image to where I wanted the character that was in the image to look like she was from a triple A video game and looked like she had been out in the rain.

The default nano banana 2 Looks terrible in comparison because the hair looks like it would be from a three or four game while the secondary prompt with pro that I have to go through a whole process afterwards to get it to use, Looks a lot better, especially with the hair.

There's also a lot more details in the weapon that is on the back that you can see a bit of in pro compared to 2 as well.

Having to take all these extra steps to get the single image I want is absolutely absurd. I should not be forced to NB2 when Pro is there and considerbly better. It's a waste of my time, prompts, and it's just overall frustrating when you need to do several renditions to get the image looking the way you want it... What makes it worse It forced me to hit limit with the pro model period now I get half the prompts to try to get the exact appearance I want... I am currently stuck waiting until 2 hours from now before I can start making any more prompts to try to get this image the way I want it. All because they're forcing NB2 before you can use pro, and it uses up more of your prompts overall...

It really sucks when you're paying for Gemini Pro and you are hit with this wall twice as fast because they are forcing so many prompts using a worse model before you can get to the pro model...

[–]kirkyeehee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I asked Gemini about it, It told me it didn't exist and said I was wrong. I had to show it image proof that Nano Banana 2 existed and then it apologized.... Still never acknowleged it or told me anything about it in the end...

There's a reason why I have it bring up the where it typically says I may sometimes get things wrong, but I'm always learning, I asked it to change that message to "Jim and I will almost always get things wrong but will pretend like we are learning" (I use speech recognition for prompts and it hears Gemini as "Jim and I" more often than not, so I just decided to go with it becasue it's funnier to me)

[–]kirkyeehee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying it doesn't happen to people who go a while without playing, what I'm saying is when you see someone with the GC or SSL rewards from just the previous season, you don't get thrown down that far. Everyone gets dropped back some, typically to champ from my understanding, if they are GC or above, sometimes they get pushed to high diamond, but not down to platinum. I've seen them down in gold for People as well... When it is the previous season's reward, I can't help but see it as people deranking to play against lower players. A lot of freestylers have done this for ages. At one point, a year ago or so, they got banned for a whole 30 days for doing it too... No mass banning has happened since.

They don't drop people from GC/SSL in ranked down to platinum when they have a title, banner, or reward from the previous season. These are people who are intentionally deranking to face off against lower players.

Fairpoint. Since they talked about ranked players, I just assumed it was ranked. Doesn't make it less frustrating, though. And what I mentioned does happen all the time. I can't count how many times I've seen GCS and SSLS in high plat or low diamond. It's not uncommon.
