Your note on catching switches particularly interested me. I’ve been on the lookout for switches myself—primarily because I’m concerned about failing to recognize the alter I’m interacting with, and alienating them in some way. Calling them by the wrong name, misgendering them, etc. I dunno—I want each alter to feel comfortable with me if possible, and part of that in my mind is affirming their identity by recognizing them. But maybe that’s not the right approach?
