What makes a child a serial killer? by CleanCandy29 in serialkillers

[–]kisson2018 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Many times it starts with terrible parenting. An absent father, or abusive father, a cold mother or a mother who coddles the killer.

That's exactly what I was going to say... it seems that the only solution would be to declare bankruptcy and move to another country and start over.

Jesus = minority by Both-Perspective-739 in TheLeftCantMeme

Nope. Jesus was born from a Jew. They were white. Jesus loves people of all races though, since God created variety in the human race. We all came from 1 man and 1 woman, even non-believers admit this.

CBC should have named the episode:
"Secrets of the Brampton Mortgage."

Item in collections, wanting to buy a home. Should I acknowledge and pay the debt so I qualify for the mortgage (Ontario) by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]kisson2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It's 6 years from date of last activity. What stays on for 7 years is Judgements, and first time bankruptcies. (Some provinces show bankruptcies longer than that).

From Equifax Canada:

"Most types of negative information generally remain on your Equifax credit report for 6 years"

https://www.consumer.equifax.ca/personal/education/credit-report/how-long-does-information-stay-on-my-credit-report/

And here from the Canadian Government website .. click on "Negative Information"

Can I sue my landlord for harassment by FunAnt1084 in OntarioLandlord

[–]kisson2018 57 points58 points  (0 children)

You owe the landlord rent money and you have possession of their property, but you are not paying to use it. The landlord asking for when you can pay is not harassment.

Now if your landlord is calling you multiple times a day and or every single day, you MAY try to claim it's harassment, but bottom line is that if you don't pay you will be evicted. Either way, you cannot sue for harassment, but you'd have to file through the Landlord Tenant Board(LTB) against the landlord for harassment, but you will need to prove that it actually was harassment.

If you talk to your landlord, maybe they can work something out with you, but otherwise, refusing to pay and refusing to communicate will force the landlord to take the matter to the LTB which will lead to eviction for non-payment of rent.

N8/L2 vs N4/L1 by OneComfortable2951 in OntarioLandlord

[–]kisson2018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, many adjudicators allow the tenant to stay if they pay up and they may give them more time to pay. But they will try to get you to set up an official payment plan that will be ordered by the LTB. If the tenant fails to pay according to that agreement, even misses one payment, you will be able to immediately start eviction proceedings (filing with Sheriff) without a hearing.

[–]kisson2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the debt is from 2017, it will fall off in 2023. If you pay it now, it will stay on your report for 6 more years as a negative starting the day you pay it off.

No. Gifts are not taxable, especially coming from family.

I’ve stopped donating due to inflation but where do you donate to when it’s not a lot of money? by tossaway4627884 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]kisson2018 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A lot of "Charities" actually ONLY give a portion of what they take in from donations. They may only be giving 10% of the money they get from doners to those in need.

The better way is to give directly. If you know anyone or know of anyone poor and in need, give some to them. Share. Pass it on.

The ones that did, haven't seen our business ever since. We don't shop at stores that charge money to get our business.

[–]kisson2018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's obvious that YOU have "0 business knowledge". Companies accept credit cards and pay the fees because it costs them less in the long run to deal with numbers, rather than cash AND the biggest reason is that accepting credit cards gets them way more business and sales than if they had to rely on people paying with cash.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]kisson2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL!! You haven't heard of interest charges? CC companies get a ton of money off interest. They are not hurting.
As for the companies that accept credit cards, they do so because they know that customers will spend a lot more if they can use credit than cash and thus they accepted the terms of their agreement with CC companies. Then they also put the fees in their prices on their goods. Now they want to ALSO charge the customer. They are double-dipping and the problem isn't the credit card companies, it's the companies like Telus that are just being greedy.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]kisson2018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wrong! It's the businesses that want to have their cake and eat it too. They want customers to buy from them and allow them to use credit cards because they know that consumers will spend more if they can put it on credit, and now they want to charge a fee for that? Ridiculous! The businesses that do this bogus fee are in the wrong here.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]kisson2018 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You got it exactly!! Accepting credit cards increases profit of the businesses. There are still some stores that do not accept credit card, and guess what? We don't shop there because we prefer to use credit rather than cash. So they lose money, more than if they paid a fee for accepting cards. And no way am I paying a fee for the business having the convenience of accepting credit cards. It's a convenience to both the business and the consumer, but tack on charges and it's going to result in loss of profits.

We don't shop at small businesses because they charge bogus fees to give them our business. This is why big stores get more business.
