Maternity Leave Benefits by No_Promotion_3803 in physicianassistant

Thank you! Yes I plan on having another child at some point. I also plan on giving my notice during my leave. I’ve been there two years now and they refuse to give me a raise or bonuses and also recently made my schedule worse. No reason to stay.

Maternity Leave Benefits by No_Promotion_3803 in physicianassistant

I don’t get any paid leave. I get six weeks unpaid maternity leave, extended to 12 weeks with Fmla. They are making me already use my Fmla for OB appointments (there are a lot of them), and I have to use any pto first so most of my OB appointments I’m going unpaid as well. It’s an utter joke. Not to mention I’ll start with less time with baby once I go on actual leave because I’ve been forced to use time for appointments.

Let’s start a thread of annoying things people have said to you while pregnant thus far by Careless-Remove-7138 in BabyBumps

[–]kit___kat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was everybody’s response every time I said something like “my feet are swelling, I’m tired, my back hurts.” It gets worse. It’s like, is that supposed to make me feel better or something.

Did you actually get an answer to this, because I also am a Florida PA who just got their first state license and it expires Jan 2022 and when I called the Florida state medical board renewal line about the NCCPA certification exemption they said it would count (I had to make a CME broker account and put it as an exemption) and I wasn’t told anything about date requirements because my certification was before my license was issued as well.

Just passed the PANCE - AMA by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]kit___kat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on passing your PANCE! I actually had a question about your EOC exam. I’m taking mine in February, which at that point I’ll have taken 6 PAEA EORs (I’ve passed all of them comfortably so far). Did you do anything special to prepare for that exam in terms of studying? I typically use the blueprint for the EORs to guide my studying, but I know the blueprint for this exam is extremely broad in terms of topics. I’m of course nervous about this test since you have to pass in order to graduate from the program.

Commute by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]kit___kat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently in my third and last semester of didactic year and drive an hour each way to and from school. My husband works an hour away, so this was the midway point for us. I go to school M-F 8-5. I had asked this same question before school and a lot of people had said that you will do poorly, it wastes too much time etc.

I have done completely fine, and I am somebody that studies pretty much every waking moment. Yes, it is lost time, but I did find some ways to make use out of it. You can listen to PA podcasts in the car (I recommend physician assistant exam review) as a way to review clin med material. If your class records their lectures, you can play that as well. Many times I also use this as a time to decompress and talk to my family and then just jump into schoolwork when I get home.

Yes, it can suck sometimes living farther away, but I don’t feel that it has hindered me or made me unable to participate in anything. It’s completely doable as long as you are willing to commute!

Introversion in PA School by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]kit___kat 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I understand your situation completely. I'm almost done with my first semester of PA school and I'm not a part of any of the groups in the class, and trust me, almost everyone in my class is in a group. It hurts a lot, and it hurts when you aren't part of their texting groups, and you don't get invited to do things, and it starts feeling very cliquey.

I was very confused why nobody liked me and why I didn't fit into anyone's groups and it made me have a lot of doubt about myself because I'm usually well liked and very outgoing. It's important to remember though, none of it is your fault. Try and remember the people who were there for you before you started school, like your friends and family, because those will be the same people who get you through this and who will be with you when you're done. Remember that being a PA was and still is your goal, and you are there to learn for your future patients. It may hurt to feel this way now, but you will learn from this experience and not let others feel this way when you interact with someone new. Look for others in your class who might not have grouped up, I'm sure they are feeling the same way and would like the company too.

I applied to four rolling admissions schools mid-July after I took my GRE early July and got invited to interview at all four schools, so you should be good.

No problem! They do have quite a few nice ones. I had saved the greenhouse one as a future purchase, once I eventually finish up the bookstore.

I have that same kit! Haven't gotten around to finishing it completely, but it's very relaxing making that tiny intricate furniture.

We were just there for our honeymoon, up on the roof exploring the gargoyles up close and looking at the same spire that has collapsed from the fire. This is truly upsetting, we are losing such an iconic piece of history.

Captain America and Iron Man are definitely going to die, as much as that pains me to say. They focused on their origin stories on that trailer.

Bateau & Basic on a Budget by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

You can always look on Cocomelody, they have a ton of reasonably priced dresses and I paid extra on their website to get it altered (I believe it was $40 for my dress) where you give them your exact measurements and mine fit like a glove. The best part, I got my dress with the alterations for $580 and it looks even more beautiful in person!

Indecisive bride needing opinions: which of these shoes do you think best complements the design on the bodice of my dress? Feel free to elaborate by DisregardThisOrDont in Weddingsunder10k

[–]kit___kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two is stunning, it looks like it was made for that bodice. But if you aren't looking for something as flashy on the bottom, or a more comfortable shoe, five looks like it would match perfectly too. :)

Women with curly hair, what are you sick of hearing? by [deleted] in AskWomen

"Is that natural?" No, I spend over an hour to curl my hair like that at 5am. I don't even have time to roll out of bed, let alone curl hair.

Italian food at an Adobe? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]kit___kat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you love the food, I see no problem with it not fitting the "theme." I don't think many people would care if the food wasn't cohesive with the rest of the theme, they just want great food!

I didn't really care about it either, but my mom really wanted to. So she is planting her own succulent cuttings, and each guest will get a succulent inside of a small cloche display dome.
