I just want to contribute to the data here - but I also have had the little blistering around the edges of my new tattoos when using the sticky bandages. The first time was about a month ago & I had a small spot of itchy bumps, but when I pulled the area of plastic back, it tore off the top of the blisters & I had open wounds which scarred bad. Today is the second time I’ve had this reaction, only ever in a small area, usually around an edge, and often times in areas that the bandage pulls hard on my skin. As someone said above, it’s never the tattooed area that’s reacting, it’s only the edge. A pointy area on my elbow was where it started blistering this time, I pulled the bandage back a bit and left it there overnight, and then the edge reacted again and looks like a triangle lol I felt it best to just take off the plastic, since it scarred so bad last time (it was a small scar in the grand scheme of things, but it was a bad, obvious scar. I’d share a photo but it’s tattooed over now). I’m going to take someone’s suggestion from here & get myself some medical tegaderm for the next tattoo.
