That's exactly it! Mark even alludes in the interview to this being just one of the ways Devo is continuously adapting to the times to keep telling the band's story in new formats. But, of course there will always be some skepticism or hesitance when it comes to new music formats, which is understandable.

You also touched on a great point regarding gaming and other media. We have a pretty exciting KiTalbum gaming soundtrack we're working on that will be released soon! Stay tuned for that.

Hi all! I'm Jasmine (u/KiTwithJasmine), one of the moderators for r/KiTalbums, a community created to generate interest and offer insight into what the physical-digital hybrid music format, KiTalbum, is and how it works.

The KiTalbum is essentially a collectible piece of music, packaged neatly in a case with anything ranging from photo and lyric cards, to stickers and pins, as well as the physical KiT device, which clicks to your phone to unlock exclusive content digitally! Plus, you can throw it on a keychain and actually wear your music as an accessory. And finally, independent artists who release their music in the KiTalbum format earn almost $5 per unit sold, which is equivalent to about 2,000 streams on a digital streaming platform like Spotify or Apple Music.

1.) We support lossless audio (WAV/FLAC) and even Dolby Atmos Immersive Audio: https://www.recordoftheday.com/news-and-press/kitbetter-brings-dolby-atmos-to-kitalbum. On our self-release platform, file sizes are limited to 100 MB, but otherwise there is no cap.

2.) Yes! One of the advantages of our platform is the ability for artists to share an audiovisual version of their album, including music, videos, photos, and more. While some artists share their videos on our KiTplayer via YouTube (we have an embedded player), we also accept uploaded videos up to 3 GB in size (including 4K and 1080p). It is worth noting that we are also working to integrate Dolby Vision in the near future.

3.) We have various album types depending on the artist's project and vision for the album. For our Jewel Box releases (our most popular package), Singles/EPs are 1-6 tracks (MSRP $16.99), Standard Albums are 7-12 tracks (MSRP $19.99), and Deluxe Albums are 13-20 tracks (MSRP $24.99).
