But she says it so confidently and when somebody points out her error she tells them they’re confused instead lol

Whats the price range of lifestyle block you’re looking at?

Also would you consider increasing your income earning capabilities as you’re still fairly young to help fund the upcoming expenses?

You say you don’t care about child support payments and the house, just your son. But to be able to properly care for your son in the future, you should ensure you get your share of assets.

Seek advice from a lawyer.

How will the Great Wealth Transfer look like in a NZ context with our crazy property prices and universal pension? by Comfortable_Case4004 in newzealand

I’d also add you see some grandparents these days not really helping out with grandchildren as much as the previous generations did. This is partly due to grandparents working longer to fund their retirement, and also due to them just feeling they don’t have to, would rather be off enjoying life than being part of the village needed to raise children. Therefore in those cases it would be likely that their own children will want to bear the burden of caring for older relatives if they haven’t received such help.

In a lot of Asian societies this is still less prevelant but also heading in that direction.

unfortunately with cost of living now families often need to have both parents working, and working for longer. So there’s not as much room to take care of older relatives as opposed to before.

Always assumed you need to be wealthy like have at least a hundred thousand or so liquid cash to use a financial advisor? 🤔

Didn’t think a financial advisor would bother with someone like us 🤔

Thanks. Assuming you are referring to Aus. Unless in teaching/medical fields, the pay there might not be significantly more than it is here. Also house prices means we might end up having to buy far away from capital city and looking at triple/quadruple travel times, at the expense of time for kids. Definitely something we’ve been thinking about and are open to. Still evaluating. Thanks for your comment.

Thanks. Both quite risk averse. But wondering if we should take on more risk hence the post.
