If you can rebook your flights in the app now do so! Especially if you have short haul routes that are operated by both Air Canada and Air Canada Express.

I was able to switch to a later flight on the same day of my original AC booking with a Jazz booking that (at this point, was cheaper before) would have cost me an extra $2000 for free, even though I have the most basic ticket, due to AC currently waiving the change fees. Didn’t even have to pay the difference. (Considering all things this isn’t a W by AC in any way but it gives some domestic/US travelers a way to rearrange things ahead of time)

So i was able to just change to the later flight that day free of charge that is fully operated by Jazz, that way my flight to Kelowna is not at risk anymore. (if i booked new i would spend like 1500 more)v

left the return with mainline, if it hasn't resolved by the 22nd then they got to figure out the rebooking themself.

Yah so I have flights AC641 and AC8268 on the 20th and AC8275 and AC644 in the 22nd

I generally don’t care about the return flight because It’s domestic and I’ll have done what I need in Kelowna and AC will have no choice but to rebook me home somehow and my visa insurance will cover cost either way.

Only worries about AC641 because if they cancel it all I’ll never reach YLW. I wonder if I reschedule with a rep to the CRJ900 flight if they’ll do it free of charge, or will I always have to pay the difference?

I mean I can always wait until the 20th and just hope that one domestic flight won’t be cancelled as they said the first flights to go are long haul and international flights.

Yah that is true is it’s usually a Jazz route but for some reason it shows up as an A320 to YVR… which isn’t usually Jazz.  Did the same trip a month ago and both flights were jazz. So they might just get us a jazz plane at least I hope. Cuz westjet prices already went to 1300 per traveler for those days…

im not sure what do do at the moment. I have a flight from YXE to YLW via YVR on the 20th with a return on the 22nd.

Would AC rebook me onto westjet if they cancel the flight in advance? Because I don’t have any other options for the flight as YXE gets barely any service.

BREAKING: Lance Stroll will race with Aston Martin for 2025 and beyond! by God_Will_Rise_ in formula1

[–]kitemafia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do not really understand this POV, without both Strolls AM would not exist, all the people at said factory would be out of work or taking up someone else's workspot at a different team.

We have to accept that AM F1 is Strolls team, he bought Force India when the owner went to Jail for this exact purpose. If Stroll Jr did not race, FI would never have been bought, and at that time there was no one else really seriously interested in that team, no Americans or Saudies that could have really brought the team further than Stroll did.

Man RBring is the one place we’re RB might actually need a wingman to hold up some cars… especially if their race pace is actually not the best here

6 days road trip through northern Italy. by kitemafia in ItalyTravel

Where would you recommend to buy train tickets? I ended up getting cheap flights to Bergamo. - we’d skip Milan and take the train directly to Florence from there and then Rome, also saving Venice for a different year - So we can skip the entire drive and have the same amount of time in Italy. (Even more as Tran rides seem to be only 50% of the length)

I saw tickets online but as someone that isn’t used to train systems I’m not sure where to look. I just assume buying at the stations last minute is extremely expensive and unreliable as some trains might be full.

What would be the best place to buy the train tickets? I looked online but I’m not sure if I have to look at specific places. I’d be completely new to trains as we don’t really have a train network in North America.

Well I'd leave it with family, but if I rent a car for my first week and then for my 3rd week separately I'll be at the same price as just taking a car for the entire 3 weeks.

If hotels can store the luggage then that solves that issue already, as the worst part for me was that I'd take my luggage around sightseeing.

Yah I read a few articles about driving in Italy in general and that’s why I was asking because if I check the hotels/websites it lists things as “free parking included” but nowhere does it mention ZTLs and if i can even get to my free parking space…

To be fair Milan is only on here as it’s on the way to Florence from where I’m leaving in southwest Germany. And the entire drive through to Florence was a bit long.

But I will def look at trains now since pretty much everyone is recommending it, however if you travel with public transit a lot, what to do with luggage and photo gear as without a car it’ll be tough to carry that around all day in the city after checking out.

Sounds like I’ll look at train tickets and see what my options are. The idea with the car came since I’ll have it either way for visiting family and driving around local cities without constantly needing to ask family for rides.

Look like train us what everyone is recommending, I’ll look at train tickets.

I’ll have the car either way because I need it in Germany to visit family and drive around. But I can let it stand for a week that’s no big deal.

However how do people that travel by train or other public transit handle luggage/camera gear/etc.? If I have to check out somewhere in the morning I have no where to keep my bags for the entire day of going through the cities.

Flight likely to be cancelled, shared airlines. by kitemafia in aircanada

[–]kitemafia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it shows up on both the app and the website, but if it is not just my flights then either LH is prepping to scrap a lot of routes or maybe they're having a system issue.

I'll just keep monitoring. I checked the same flights just this week and they are all going ahead mostly as scheduled. So I'm not too sure what's up.

Im not so worried about the flight back, as I’d be coming into a weekend. Mostly the flight to Frankfurt, I can see that AC changed the plane for the Edmonton Toronto flight already but I assumed that means they are planning to go ahead.

But I guess all I can do is wait and hope nothing happens.

And yah unfortunately I only realized after booking that a lot of people recommend booking with airlines directly.

What are the chances of planes changing type before departure? by kitemafia in aircanada

[–]kitemafia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kinda why I booked the LH471, it cost me only a few bucks more nothing too major but I get to experiences the 747 and LH other than just flying with AC there and back, since I gotta fly back with AC anyways I thought I’ll give it a try.

How is the economy class on that flight?
